If chess pieces could talk... by
Ivan
I wonder what they would say if chess pieces could talk. I believe
that it would sound like a dysfunctional family because it is the
queen that is wearing the pants in that household; not the king.
I think the Bishops would act really arrogant because they can attack
long range and they like stuck up pieces anyway. I picture Rooks to
talk slow and sluggish but with old age wisdom.
Who knows...

Emanuel Lasker by
zdrakec
This may be a bit of a troll, but I would very much like to hear
arguments both for and against the notion that Emanuel Lasker was the
greatest of all the world champions.
Comments are welcome!

Playing Against Exotic Openings? by
Jim Roe
Ruben Fine's advice was to take the pawn, forget defending your pawn, and
simply
develop. Let him waste time getting the pawn back while you develop.
The trap to most gambits is to have you defend the pawn which can only be
done by
ignoring your development while he proceeds with his development.
See the bust to the Danish gambit played in this fashion.

Philadelphia Chess store by

Does anyone know of a chess store in the Philadelphia area???
Your best bet is to wait for the Mr. Bill Show to hit the Adam's Mark Hotel for
the World Open or the National Chess Congress.

Correct Results for Birmingham 1858 by
Jerry Spinrad
This was a major tournament (even Morphy was entered, but he withdrew)
won by Loewenthal and including such players as Staunton and Saint
Amant; it was a much watched tournament at the time. Surprisingly, the
results given in standard sources seem to be incorrect. I was
surprised to find in the book of the 1862 tournament that, for
example, the match Falkbeer-Ingleby was given as 2-0-3 rather...

Kasparov's hatred of Karpov by
Ian Hurley
What is the source of Kasparov's hatred of Karpov the man? I know of some
vague political antagonism, but no specifics. Yet it seems that Kasparov
views Karpov with utter contempt. Does anyone have more information?
