"Nimzovich tournament record" by
Charles Blair
My copy of MY SYSTEM (published by McKay) has Nimzovich playing
in two tournaments in London in 1927, with scores of (+7 -2 =2)
and (+7 -0 =3). The former has been confirmed by several sources,
while the latter seems to be a mistake. Any ideas what the +7 -0 =3
was supposed to refer to?

Correlation between Speed and Strength by
Flobby Bischer
Don't forget that pattern recognition and viable plans based on arrangements
is something grandmasters have greater expertise with.
Here's what Yermolinsky says:
2200 vs 2000 better feels the flow of the middlegame, uptrends and
downtrends, critical points
2400 vs 2200 better performs in the transitional stage from middlegame to
the endgame and knows and plays the endgame better

The idea of online chess is to beat up stupid beginners
and intolerant intermediate players until they vomit and give up
chess for good.

Interservice Championships (or Wish Me Luck!) by
Matt Nemmers
36 hours from now I'll be engrossed in my first round game at the
Interservice Championships at Camp Lejeune, NC. (The individual players who
place in the top six will represent the United States in the NATO Chess
Championships held in Coppenhagen, Denmark next month.)
As the lowest rated member of the six-man Navy team, I'm gonna need a TON of
luck playing against the tough opposition in the...

Dr. Mig? by
Ian Burton
In an interview of Kasparov that can be found on TWIC, Mig asks the
following question:
Q: I'm a psychoanalyst. What are the most important characteristics to
become a champion chessplayer?
Mig is entertaining, Mig is a fine writer, but Mig as psychoanalyst is going
over top.

Building a solid foundation by
Russell Reagan
I would like to know what stronger players think is a good book (or small
set of books) to build a solid foundation for playing chess. Most people
want a quick fix, but I am asking for a book (or books) that when studied,
will give a player a solid foundation for moving on to become a strong
player.
I am not exactly sure if this is a good example, but the Inner Game of Chess
comes to mind. It...

Why does chess have strong links to Russia? by
Stoneskin
As per header. I know the game is thought to be Chinese in origin so I
am wondering how in it's history it made such an impact in Russia to the
extent that anyone not familiar would of thought it had originated
there.
Are there any good links to chess history?
