Chess Puzzles by W T Harvey
Here are some puzzles taken from the chess games of strong players of the early 20th century. Except where noted, it's "White to Move and Win". a) http://wtharvey.com/aug1a.png White Mates in 3, George Koltanowski vs Arthur Durkelblum, Antwerp, 1923 b) http://wtharvey.com/aug1b.png White Mates in 5, George Renaud vs A Bertram, Paris, 1923

Pogo Chess - ONE Minute Players and Games by DustyNRobbie
I like to play ONE minute games at Pogo Chess. Each player has 60 seconds to play. You either checkmate the other guy, or he runs out of time. It seems to me that most of the high rated players (rating: Purple or Red) are all fakers. These are a group of rather nasty Jewish kids --perhaps a dozen using a dozen different Screen Names. They ruin the games for White people, with their cheating and...

OT Federal Do Not Call List by RSHaas
I hope the federal courts throw out the FTC's Do Not Call List on 1st Amendment grounds. Commercial speech has always been seen by the Supreme Court as identical to any other speech and is therefore protected by the 1st Amendment. (RSHaas)

historian Edward Winter's new book (was:errors in...) by NoMoreChess
.. While Larry Parr will always refuse to admit error, and instead pretend to confess to some lesser crime (here, not spelling out a subtle distinction for his presumed-ignorant audience), he is probably dead right in thinking he has been, once again, accused of outright lying. But I don't think he intended to lie, in this case. He was merely churning out more ad homenim slop against...

Gata Kamsky....Chess Legend by EZoto
Whoa!! Wait a minute Aravena Sloan. Some guy from brighton beach? Are you a Ranger fan? Jealous that NJ wins 3 cups and the Rangers with the highest payroll in Hockey can't even make the playoffs. As for Kamsky a lot of ill will toward Kamsky was due to his overbearing father. EZoto

Washington Square Park - What to expect? by DaveJG
My 15-year-old nephew is an avid chess player, and is considering visiting Washington State Park while vacationing in New York. What is he to expect? What is the environment/attitude? What's the etiquette? I've read of "hustlers", but is that in a manner of a "pool hustler", sneakily trying to steal your money, or more upfront "give me $5.00 and I'll play you"? I guess he's pretty good, he...

"Best" chess game to play by NetSock
I'm am a humble player...only about 1500 or so, but I more enjoy replaying older games, as they seem more "exciting" than modern play. I love replaying games with "!" and "!!" notations. My question is this...what is your most "exciting" game? Ever blundered to think you would lose, only to have your opponent blunder to even things up? What move in tournament chess drew the biggest gasp?
