Mike Goodall Teaches Chess by StanB
"Sam Sloan" wrote in message ... Mike Goodall wrote: "Most chess teachers are frauds who don't want to be exposed." "I know several veteran chess teachers who are 1400 at best. Why can't a 1400 teach an 800? For the same reason an 8th grader can't teach a 1st grader. I know some "teachers" stay just a chapter ahead of...

Dr. Mig? by Ian Burton
In an interview of Kasparov that can be found on TWIC, Mig asks the following question: Q: I'm a psychoanalyst. What are the most important characteristics to become a champion chessplayer? Mig is entertaining, Mig is a fine writer, but Mig as psychoanalyst is going over top. -- Ian Burton

Most people want a quick fix, but I am asking for a book (or books) that when studied, will give a player a solid foundation for moving on to become a strong player. I am not exactly sure if this is a good example, but the Inner Game of Chess comes to mind. It...

Why does chess have strong links to Russia? by Stoneskin
As per header. I know the game is thought to be Chinese in origin so I am wondering how in it's history it made such an impact in Russia to the extent that anyone not familiar would of thought it had originated there. Are there any good links to chess history? -- Stoneskin

Pogo Chess - ONE Minute Players and Games by DustyNRobbie
I like to play ONE minute games at Pogo Chess. Each player has 60 seconds to play. You either checkmate the other guy, or he runs out of time. It seems to me that most of the high rated players (rating: Purple or Red) are all fakers. These are a group of rather nasty Jewish kids --perhaps a dozen using a dozen different Screen Names. They ruin the games for White people, with their cheating and...
