Nope, sorry I won't allow it! The only "Good Doctor" was, is, and
forever more will be Isaac Asimov - period. :-)

Tim Hanke's Cultural Prejudice by
Nick
(Don Mihokovich) wrote in message ...
O.k. guys. This subject has been discussed ad nauseum, and the
election is over. Unless Tim makes some new "culturally prejudiced"
remarks that are newsworthy, why don't we just put this to rest? It's
time to try to work together.

ICC vs USCF ratings by
RSHaas
My last USCF rating was 1954.. about 10 years ago. My last ICC was about
1720-ish about 12 months ago. The 1500 -1700 ICC rated players I've
encountered are much stronger that the typical USCF 1500-1700. (RSHaas)

Pogo Chess by
DustyNRobbie
Here are some of my observations on Pogo Chess:
It is Java-based SunMicro and very prone to glitching.
It appears that it is intentionally set up to force you to read their ads which
run for an absurdly long time. You are supposed to believe that "oh, they are
showing me this ad while I wait for Pogo to load the board and program". In
fact, I am sure it could immediately switch you to the board....

What happened to the GM accused of pedophilia? by

There was a GM recently accused of going to meet a girl down in

From what I know about his playing, and that's not too much, he seems like a
perfect guy to beat a machine.

200 Words by Lev Khariton - “My Chess Predecessors” by
tomic
Modesty has never been Kasparov’s forte. With years, however, our drawbacks
progress geometrically. This is the first thought that springs to mind when
reading his interviews, especially the most recent one at www.chessbase.com
Well, lack of modesty is not his only drawback that gets unproportionally
inflated. What strikes me more, is the lack of objectivity and I would say,
cruel indifference to...

Tim Hanke's Cultural Prejudice by
NoMoreChess
..
I reminded folks as to what a doddering old fool Jerry Bibuld is these days.
Mr. Bibuld may very well have strong political beliefs, quite radically
different from many others, but this hardly makes him a "doddering old fool."
In fact, I have had very little difficulty "interpreting" the meaning of his
rants -- even when he fails to explain them himself.

I love handheld chess computers by
Chris Kantack
It's a beautiful summer here in the Pacific Northwest. (Actually could use
some rain as it is quite dry and there's always a chance of big fires.)
Summertime is when I give my handheld computers a real workout. Often
people ask me to summarize my findings as, despite my thorough reviews, they
cannot decide "which Excalibur handheld is the best buy for me?".
Usually I don't have a concrete...

OT: Core Values by
NoMoreChess
We, the people of the USA certainly aren't perfect and have admittedly
made our share of mistakes from which we will continue to learn and
grow.
The first step toward learning from a mistake, is admitting you made it.
Yet many of the posters around these parts cannot stand critics, and it
appears the reason is that they point out these very mistakes, which nobody
wants to admit they have...

Peter Leko back from the dead to play Chess960!
