Guy Macon's suggested changes to USCF/FIDE rules
There have been many suggested changes to he rules for chess,
none of which has gathered any real support. Here are my
suggestions, which I expect to receive an equally warm reception.
grin
ONE: Have the USCF adopt sections 1 through 5 of the FIDE
laws of chess and abandon the present USCF rules that cover
the same areas. Having two sets of...

Fritz11 by
renaissanceman@i-plus.net
It's time for the yearly Xmas verision of Fritz to be marketed. This
time the perks appear minimal if you already have Fritz 10. If you
want a strong program, go with Rybka. There are plenty of free
databases available on the net. You probably already have a bunch of
Combinations books. Fritz 10's Media system works fine. It there any
reason to update to the newer version?

The Video Generation and the Future of Board Games by
Josef Pieper
Apparently, two years ago there was a major exhibition sponsored by the Asia
Society in American museums called "Asian Games: The Art of Contest." I
have been fortunate enough to get a copy of the exhibition book. I found a
quote there that I would like you to comment on:
"We hope that this exhibition, in addition to persuading
visitors of the historical importance of games,...

Does this mean that, if you have your way, there will NOT be an

Fake Bill Goichberg breaks into the USCF President's account by
samsloan
The big scandal over at the USCF Forums is, to prove his claim that
any child could have spoofed The Fake Sam Sloan and made him appear to
be Paul Truong, Gregory Alexander logged in as Bill Goichberg, who
uses the screenname "ChessOffice".
Now, Gregory is evading questions that he did it, even though
everybody knows that he did.
Here is the fake posting:

Gregory Alexander keeps defending Paul Truong by
samsloan
Don Schultz went nuts when it happened just one time that somebody (or
possibly Don himself) posted a BLANK empty message to this group. Don
demanded that Mike Nolan investigate.
Do you really think that anybody would believe that a Fake Paul Truong
could have posted to this forum hundreds of times during the election
campaign and the real Paul Truong who was also posting here never
noticed...

Found fantastic online tactics server by
Up2Late
Anyone know anything about this chess server?
http://chessok.com/?page_id=86
It's miles ahead of any other online tactics server IMHO. It lets you
play through alternate lines, gives hints on wrong answers. I like it
better that CT-ART, which still has a windows 95 feel to it.
Only problem is, it's great for my daughter (age 9), but the top level
puzzles are very difficult. Does anyone know...

Sevan Muradian switches sides and joins the Sam Sloan Team by
samsloan
Boy, if you keep this up, they will put you in much the same category
as they put me at this time last year.
At this time last year, Donna Alarie and Sevan Muradian were my two
biggest critics. Now they seem to have switched sides and joined the
team.

The USCF Chairman States the Facts by
samsloan
Actually, my wife made the same sort of comment yesterday. Yesterday,
I had to go for an operation on my knee. This required me to go under
General Anaesthesia. This procedure is relatively safe nowadays but of
course there is always some danger.
So, just prior to taking me to the hospital, my wife remarked, "If the
doctor asks for permission to disconnect the life support equipment, I
will tell...
