Randy Bauer explains the role of new defense counsel by samsloan
Thank you for clarifying this point. For example, if Bill Goichberg instructs Dan Lucas, editor of Chess Life, not to publish the name of Sam Sloan in Chess Life and to remove the name of Sam Sloan from all articles submitted by journalists prior to publication, and Dan Lucas carries out this directive, as he did in this month's Larry Evans and Pal Benko's columns, was Goichberg acting in his...

Quick interview with GM Evans by parrthenon@cs.com
Interview with GM Larry Evans during the 25th Western States Open in Reno, Nevada From www.chessloser.wordpress.com October 17th, 2007 In another pathetic attempt at being a semi-legitimate chess blog, I made an attempt at interviewing a Grand Master. since i wasn't allowed to play in round three because i suck so much, i spent the time

Do you write your moves down for every game you play ? by SAT W-7
me , i have never written any game down and sometimes i wish i would have ..+ it would be kind of kewl too look at a game i played ten years ago for example..I also belive that is one reason i have stayed about the same level of play over the years... If i would have written my games down and studied them i mite eliminate some of the mistakes i make over the years..

Rescuing Mig Greengard by samsloan
I have discovered one of those Wikipedia assholes has been going around trying to delete the biographies of famous chess personalities. He has already deleted the biography of Mig Greengard and Ali Nihat Yazici, President of the Turkish Chess Federation, and now he is trying to delete the biographies of Bernard Zuckerman, Burt Hochberg, Bill Hook and several others. Since the biography of Mig...

Joel Channing is attacking me again by samsloan
Sam, I, and perhaps some others, would like to know whom your confidants are. Who calls you frequently to give you counsel? Four or five names names have been mentioned frequently, but I would not care to speculate. So, why don't you just tell us? Are any of them former enemies of yours? Inquiring minds want to know: have you become the unwitting tool of sinister forces? Joel

Eric Moskow posts to The New York Times by samsloan
Dr. Eric Moskow has been posting to the New York Times website. Here is one of his recent postings and my reply: October 20th, 2007 9:35 am mr sloan may I suggest a compromise. Paul troung should resign fromthe uscf board, you should drop your lawsuit and a third party candidate that would support susans reform platform but not be under susans thumb might solve the issue. I am sure a jim eade,...

Bauer Gets Free Attorney for Truong and Polgar by parrthenon@cs.com
OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY I must say that Marcus Roberts probably underestimates the legal bills. 10K will not last very long with any top legal firm. Meanwhile, please notice how Randy Bauer, the man who tried to excuse censorship of the USCF Forum, is now braying about hiring a top firm without any compunction at all as to how the costs will affect the

Susan Polgar's blog by samsloan
Thank you for posting this. The original post is at http://susanpolgar.blogspot.com/2007/10/ten-things-you-didnt-know-about-texas.html Could your or somebody look up the FIDE regulations in effect in 1978. They will be in the chess informants of that year. I am sure that at that time there was no rating requirement. The reason I am sure of this is that in the same year, 1978, Herman Suradiradja...

Rob Mitchell is a con man and swindler by samsloan
He is actually a con man and a swindler because he tried to swindle the Gothic Chess Inventor, a poor man who had sold his house to finance his game, out of $35,000. Look at the contract prepared for his signature. It stated: 8. CMM, in good faith, will be responsible for obtaining initial player contracts and maintaining player participation but will not be held liable if the participants, for...

Source for Eight Officers Problem? by Proginoskes
Last night, I googled the Web for information about the Eight Officers problem. (Put two rooks, two knights, two bishops, a queen, and a king on a blank chessboard so that every square is attacked --- not just occupied.) I found a solution where both bishops are on the same colored square, and about a dozen positions where 63 squares are attacked. The general consensus is that 63 is best...

Time to take away the fake titles of "Chairman", etc. by samsloan
Bill Goichberg has been a poor president all along. It is plainly apparent that he has shown no leadership capability at all. He should step aside and let Randy Bauer be president since Randy has effectively assumed that position anyway. Also, the board should vote to get rid of those ridiculous titles of Chairman for Susan, VP of Marketing and Public Relations for Truong and VP of something...
