Randy Bauer Crosses to the Dark Side by
parrthenon@cs.com
NO LIMIT TO CONCEIT
Randy Bauer is the guy who actually thought he had a chance last year
to beat GM Larry Evans in a four-game match.
Enough said.

Bill Goichberg and his 17,000 postcards by
samsloan
Too bad Bill Goichberg did not think about this when he mailed 17,000
postcards attacking me or when he posted numerous attack pieces to the
USCF Issues Forum.
Why is it that Bill only becomes concerned about such matters when
evidence is developed implicating candidates that he supported for a
time?

How to Kill a Forum USCF Style by
parrthenon@cs.com
WELCOME BACK TO THE THIRD GRADE
The new USCF rules amount to protecting the
politicians from direct criticism.
Take Sam Sloan's outing of board member Robert
Tanner, who arranged fake tournaments to raise his rating.
Under the new rules, members could not say that
"EB member Robert Tanner is a cheater" or that "Robert

Los Angeles Open Chess Tournament by
expochess07@yahoo.com
Cunning Chess Players Win!
Are you hopelessly straightforward and trustful? We, the subtle,
convoluted, and bold players of the Exposition Park Chess Club very greatly desire the attendance of wily
chess players.
This coming first Sunday of the month, Oct. 7th, 2007, will be
the occasion of a free, unrated, open, three-round chess tournament.
Cash prizes will *NOT* be awarded, but...

Efforts to Obtain Corporate Sponsorship for Chess by
samsloan
Thank you very much for this excellent posting, Kevin (one of the few
times when I really liked what you wrote).
As you may recall, two candidates for the recent Executive Board
election claimed as a campaign promise that if elected they would
bring in millions of dollars in corporate sponsorship.
I have just been wondering what they plan to do that you did not do,
and how they believe that...

Prior Censorship--USCF Forums by
B. Lafferty[_2_]
The USCF forums have now sunk to the level of the Polgar Blog. Selected
poster, moi being one, must now have posts reviewed before being posted.
So, here's what upset them so:
by Brian Lafferty on Mon Oct 01, 2007 5:43 am #71978
1. Make vicious anonymous attack on other candidate.
2. Attack a critics with defamatory communications behind their back.
3. Attack critics by impersonating them.

The International Mind Sports Games is OFFICIALLY set for China in 2008. by
Rich Hutnik
The American Go Association (http://www.usgo.org) put this up on their
website, after Bridge had been indicating it is on. Think of this as
an Olympics for mental competition. The news:
1ST INT'L MIND SPORTS GAMES SET FOR 'O8 IN CHINA: (9/30/2007) The
First International Mind Sport Games will be held in Beijing in
October, 2008, reports Roy Laird, Chairman of the AGA Board of
Directors. Calling...

Before we vote on this matter, I ask the board to first review a very
serious matter regarding the USCF forums. Without consulting the
board, programmer(s) of the USCF forums decided to enable a feature to

Advice on getting better at chess by
Terry[_2_]
Hello All:
I'm getting back into chess after a long absence. I was never really
good at chess but had knowledge of the basics.
I'm now 52 and have the extra time to dedicate to learning. I'm
looking for some advice on how to bring the game to the next level.
Online chess lessons look promising however there is a lot to choose
from and I do not have the expertise to pick out a good teacher....
