I have a new book out on the hystery of chess by Chess One
Stop bothering me with these e-mails and public notices - I'm writing a very important chess history as a commisioned project on the family-Sloan and American Chess as we know it, featuring among other famous chess personalities: an early meeting by Josiah Smith-Sloan with Polgarhontas, Ralph Waldo Sloan, who had a split personality, and sometimes thought he was Johhny-Appleseedsloan, and...

Sloan, Brenan Nierman, Brian Lafferty are mindless idiots by Jackass Lafferty
I have to admit I have a hard time understanding why serious people keep responding to the endless onslaught of speculation, innuendo, and character assassination coming from Mr. Sloan. Simply ignore him unless he has one of those rare moments when he posts something of merit. Perhaps Sam Sloan, Brenan Nierman and Brian Lafferty will get eventually bored if nobody responds to them. That's how...

The new USCF board by parrthenon@cs.com
POLITICAL ANALYSIS I have been on the transpacific blower and exchanging e-mails with some Federation politerati. Here is some of what I have heard: 1. A long-time California USCF observer figures that the schism among members of the oligarchy or, as he puts it, "the club," had everyone fighting so much that they failed to notice an invasion from outer

Rice Gambit by jeremy.p.spinrad@vanderbilt.edu
I googled Rice Gambit, and was surprised to see that there were a good number of hits not for chess, but for Condoleeza. Do you think that the person who first used Rice gambit in the newer sense was aware of the history of the Rice Gambit in chess? Jerry Spinrad

What is wrong with George and Brenan Nierman? by Jackass Lafferty
George is senile and keeps on repeating the same crap. Brenan Nierman is just a wacky lunatic who wants to destroy the world and save convicted felons like Sam Sloan. What the hell is wrong with them? Are all chess players like this?

Deadly, Dangerous, Decisive Damiano's Defense Defeats Drei Denizens During World Open by samsloan
Deadly, Dangerous, Decisive Damiano's Defense Defeats Drei Denizens During World Open During the just concluded World Open in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania near Philadelphia, I defeated three more players with Damiano's Defense. None of my opponents took the pawn. Needless to say, after 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f6 3. Nxe5 fxe5 Black would be a knight ahead.

I am not humiliated by my election defeat by samsloan
Several pundits have suggested that I have been humiliated by my election loss yesterday, in which I received only 677 votes. I do not feel humiliated. I was the target of the most vicious attacks ever in the history of USCF Election politics. Even Mother Theresa could not have withstood the attacks to which I was subjected. Those attacks started more than two weeks before I even took office in...

Will Polgar Make it Through the Delegates' Meeting? by samsloan
Will Polgar Make it Through the Delegates' Meeting? The delegate's meeting and the workshops that precede the delegates' meeting will start on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. These are likely to be raucous meetings. Although it has been demonstrated by the election results that Polgar has the support of the general membership, she may not have such strong support from...

Polgar for President by samsloan
I agree with George for a change and I disagree with everybody else. I believe that Susan Polgar could and indeed almost must be made president of the USCF now, assuming that she wants the job. The first reason that Polgar should be made president rather than Goichberg is that Polgar is more beautiful than Goichberg. I am not joking. Attractiveness and presentability are...

Who is the *fairest* of them all? by Chess One
**As usual, a few questions are necessary, before the hangin' judge puts that black thing over his head, coz as always, someone is going to pay for this! There should be a major inquiry into the question of how Gregory Alexander, who just joined the USCF for the first time in his life a few months ago and who has never played a rated game of chess in his life, **though somehow was...

Resignation of Gregory Alexander as moderator5 by samsloan
A good example of my point. When the FOC was first created, Bill Goichberg, who personally selected the members of the FOC, picked people known to be hostile to me, such as Louis Blair, and also picked confirmed Polgaristas. The reason for these selections was that at that time Goichberg backed Polgar for election. Fortunately, it was not long before all the Polgarites started resigning. Then,...

Brenan Nierman supports convicted felon Sam Sloan by Jackass Lafferty
Brenan, are you for real? As for sex and all that jazz, there's a difference between temptation and sin. Adults should know that. There was so much more. His accusations - so many of them so false and viscious. The low point of the campaign for me was when he accused me of being a racist in this forum. What made it so especially low, was that I would have hit the roof, if that had happenned to...

Goichberg, Channing, Schultz and Hough deceiving members by Jackass Lafferty
There is a big issue here. Last year, the office delayed the payment of prizes for the National Open until after May 31 although the tournament was played much earlier. Since the fiscal year ends on May 31, that made the USCF bottom line look better for the 2005-2006 fiscal year. (The USCF still lost $130,000 even after this enhancement.) We have been expecting a similar phony deal to happen...
