I am reprinting "The Tactical Grob" by Claude Bloodgood by samsloan
I am reprinting "The Tactical Grob" by Claude Bloodgood. The Grob is the name of the chess opening that begins with 1.g4. Claude Bloodgood wrote the book while on Death Row in Virginia due to an unfortunate butcher knife accident. He was not executed however because, later on, the US Supreme Court declared the death penalty unconstitutional.

My chess playing canary in the coal mine! by samsloan
I have an old friend who calls me every two or three days to tell me how the latest thing Trump did is great. Trump did this thing which is great, Trump did that other thing that is great and Trump did still another thing which is great. I always nod in agreement. I must admit that he was the only one of my friends who predicted that Trump would win the election. Now he predicts that Trump will...

The Man Who made my Marriage by samsloan
This man was important to me because he is the person who wrote the letter to me on behalf of a Kalash girl named Sunik asking me to come back to Pakistan to marry her. She had previously asked me to marry her when I was in Pakistan but her father had broken into the marriage ceremony and had called the police. Later her father had dragged her off and I never saw her again.. So after I got this...

Libertarians to finally get what we have long wanted. by samsloan
Libertarians to finally get what we have long wanted. In a speech on August 22, 2017 the President stated that if Congress and the Senate do not provide funding for the Wall, then he will shut down the government by not agreeing to increase the dept ceiling. This has brought joy to the hearts of Libertarians everywhere, because we have long wanted to shut down the government and now finally we...

Mike Leahy is a LIAR and a THIEF that Does NOT honor his so-called Money Back Promise by newsgroup_mail
Yesterday I met with a local tournament player in our club who advised me that he shelled out some money for Leahy's Bookup Express after having recieved numerous emails aggressively encouraging him to upgrade from his Bookup-Lite. He said he decided to give it a try mostly to stop the emails from coming but found that he began getting even MORE emails after that (I guess he was put on Leahy's...

African No-Shows in Baku Chess Olympiad by samsloan
African No-Shows in Baku Chess Olympiad A shocking development in the first round of the World Chess Olympiad in Baku Azerbaijan was that sixteen teams that were in the pairings did not show up and forfeited their games. This was a grave error that should never have happened. No team should have been put in the pairings if they had not yet arrived in Baku. If some teams were arriving late, the...

Board Prize Winners from the 2016 World Chess Olympiad in Baku by samsloan
Here are the Board Prize Winners from the 2016 World Chess Olympiad in Baku.. It is difficult to imagine how hard they had to work to win these prizes. Notice that the hats were too small for almost all of the male chess players. This proves that chess players have larger heads. No silver medal winner for second board prize appeared. I wonder what they feel they were accomplishing by playing this...
