RANDY BAUER GRASPS AT STRAW
We still have not received the detailed cost estimates of the move to Cross-to-Bear. We still have not been told whether Cross-to-Bear architect Phil Elmore is a friend of Harry Sabine, whether Mr. Sabine knew of the huge overpayment in the contract for famished Phil, and whether he kept his Tennessee trap resolutely zipped at the expense of the USCF. Mr. Bauer and his fellow honest men have still not explained why this dirt farmer had to reveal the contents of a dirty contract that has since been renegotiated or is in the process of being renegotiated (different Board members tell different stories on this point)? Why did they hide it from the membership, or were they too busy to mention the matter over several months? Or were they simply "volunteers" who used their limited energies to pick their noses? We have some stuff from Randy Bauer and Stan Booz. As I suspected, we have not heard from George John, who likely finds nothing particularly uncivil from political ally Jim Eade in the "Bestiary Eadiensis." If true, we shall have a fair idea what to expect in the future from the ticket trying to take over the USCF. Taking the last and least first, Stan Booz writes of my avowal that I opposed Don Schultz's administration, just as I attacked the incumbencies of Tim Redman and others, "Making it all the more curious that the Larry now heels to Don's command. Every time the carousel revolves we have the Larry reaching for his new master, to get the gold ring. Can there be any doubt that the Larry sold out to the almight ringgit?" Aside from the weakminded mixed metaphors, what can one say about the above? What does the above mean? First, Mr. Booz appears to concede that Jim Eade did indeed lie or mislead when suggesting in a posting that I failed to support the Dorsch critique of Don Schultz's administration re finances. The fact is that I was in Tom's corner vs. Goichberg and others even when Jim Eade felt constrained to vote against Tom in a few instances. Secondly ... well, there is no secondly. At that point, Mr. Booz makes no sense. I am the guy who has roasted Bill Goichberg more often than any one else on this forum for taking "pay," when the Board resolution said "no pay." Randy Bauer, for example, has not demanded that Mr. Goichberg, who is widely perceived as being allied with Don Schultz, return the $25,000. Yet I am somehow riding a carousel and reaching for new masters and selling out for ringgits when Mr. Booz has yet to show I have had any masters at all, and indeed he appears to concede that I have not had any. And what has Mr. Schultz to do with ringgits? Senseless stuff from our resident CPA Stan Booz. He simply can't conceive of someone being independent. In his world, you're either for him or agin' him. Randy Bauer scores a point. He did not refuse service of a court letter, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with him refusing a certified letter from Sam personally containing a court document. My views have not changed, and Mr. Bauer dishonestly tries to suggest that they have. My mistake was to write that Mr. Bauer had refused a court letter. Period. I apologize for the error, not lie. However, there is no comparison between my misapprehension of a matter of discrete fact and the sheer mendacity that Randy Bauer has exhibited in both matters of method and fact on this forum. The dishonest methods are clear enough: every ploy imaginable was used to avoid disclosing detailed cost estimates of the move to Cross-to-Bear. Finally, when the ploys were exhausted, we were told he would have to talk with Tim Hanke and Beatriz Marinello, though Mr. Hanke nearly two months earlier had written that he would have to talk with members of the Board. In short, the merry old runaround. And, to be sure, we still have not received the detailed cost estimates of the move to Cross-to-Bear. What we did finally receive was Randy Bauer's personal estimates of the cost, along with a waiver that even if they were doubled, it would still be one heckuva geee-lorious deal. Several readers misunderstood the estimates as being a summary of those the Board has suppressed. After a lot of cross-questioning, we learned that the numbers are Mr. Bauer's personal figures. What did the numbers include? We are still unclear.Aapparently not the architect's fee, apparently not legal fees, apparently not payments to the NY unemployment fund, apparently not recent increases in the cost estimates for putting up the new building in Cross-to-Bear (estimates started at $300,000 before the move and have escalated up to $650,000) and apparently not payments to USCF prez Beatriz Marinello who is receiving pay in the guise of "expenses." Mr. Bauer tried to defend not including legal fees in his cost estimates by arguing the week before last that those fees would have been higher had the Federation stayed in New Windsor. Yet last October, he wrote there was no danger of legal action and that the Board was so confident that all was well the topic had not discussed for "weeks" a major legal letter from a Tennessee attack dog. Another Board member said -- and no other Board member contested the claim -- that the Tennessee folk had promised there would be no lawsuit if the Federation stayed in New York. Mr. Bauer could not keep his story straight about a major issue -- not about a matter of discrete fact in my inadvertently false statement. So, Mr. Bauer calculates he now has his excuse for no longer responding to my postings. The way that this man grasps at a straw says a lot about his character, I daresay. His silence is no great loss because despite thousands of words he seldom answers real questions. |

I have repeatedly called for the posting of a Crossville move "White
Paper" including non-confidential budget numbers (employee salaries would be confidential). -- George John Dear George, Your request and mine and others for a White Paper has been consistently ignored by the board majority. Beatriz Marinello's "expenses" should be made public for the simple reason that we have been consistently told that she is not an employee but an independent contractor overseeing the move to Crossville (but why can't others who already are on the payroll perform this function)? Best regards, Larry Parr |

WHAT MINORITY?
I'm not trying to pass the buck here, but IMO a board minority has a responsibility to make a reasonable attempt to persuade a board majority to do the right thing. Please trust me when I say the following, should I be elected and find myself in the minority role, I WILL practice what I preach. George John Dear George, Why not practice what you preach right now? The White Paper you call for on Crossville is being blocked precisely by the incumbents on your ticket who are running for re-election. With all due respect, the resignation of Frank Brady leaves only one minority member on the board and Don Schultz is powerless to persuade the majority to release any figures -- as you well know. Who? Who has the dedication? Who has the business credentials? Who will put in long hours for heaping rations of ****. Who will prevail while being taken daily to pillory and post? The lady deserves a lot more respect than you could ever imagine. |

Larry,
I can't practice what I preach because I am not on the Executive Board. If I were, I would have strongly advocated in favor of what I have advocated for here. If necessary, I would have introduced a motion with the goal of getting everyone on record their reason why or why not the "White Paper" should be posted. SFAIK, Frank Brady and Don Schultz made no such motion; although, they could have done so. It is okay to make motions even if one thinks they will be defeated. It gets information into the official record that would otherwise not be there, and that can be valuable in the long run to effect meaningful change. Best regards, George John |

Stan Booz said that Larry Parr said: With all due respect, the
resignation of Frank Brady leaves only one minority member on the board and Don Schultz is powerless to persuade the majority to release any figures -- as you well know. Stan's answer to Parr: Why doesn't he release them then? Guess you missed it Stan. I did put right here on rgcp recently the best estimates I had. I'm talking about best estimates of the entire move not even actuals but certainly estimates that show some breakdownn and not merely a single number. To refresh your memory Stan, the post where I gave all the numbers I had was the one where George John requested an explanation on why I gave a range for square foot cost of the new building. One problem with the estimate that I posted is that I am not the right person to be doing it, our financial experts should. Another problem is that I had ranges and the upside of the range went too high! Don Schultz |
