In a non-chess newsgroup Neil Brennan volunteered accusations that I held
anti-semitic views, to which this poster replied Bianca Steele wrote: I don't worry that you're a racist, Phil; if you were a racist, you would speak only to men of your own ethnic group, and regard the rest of us as not worth any effort on your part towards civility. Brennan then wrote: This is the same Philth Innes who posted to a thread titled "Did Six Million Really Die?" and who regularly defends antiSemites on the newsgroups. It's not hard to tell which way the wind is blowing..... ------- Brennan is insinuating something but quoting nothing. He has written thousands of these posts. Taylor Kingston never noticed any of them, and characterises them as 'a dispute' whereas he notices every bit of hate-speech from Fischer. It must be dissapointing for Brennan that I work with Susan Polgar who is Jewish, and who is sending me her new book! This is the same GM Polgar who used to write here until we heard from Brennan and Booz that it was 'Trollgar". This is utterly disgusting. Phil Innes |

Dear Phil,
I have no idea whether or not you wrote "Did ... really die?" That line of thinking is generally considered to be anti-semitic. For anyone to attack you for your opinion on this subject, prior to World War II, would generally not have been tolerated. Frankly, most people in America, would have considered such an attack, an abridgement of free speech. Nowadays, it is an automatic assumption that if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck .... it is a duck. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, though some continually make it. Hatred and negativity put many people off of Chess, and to be honest it is the elephant in the living room as I have stated here many times. Bigotry and hatred, generally go hand in hand, so I guess we should expect that one groups chess preferences over anothers will result in hate speech ... and that is that. That being said, I don't believe it profitable or wise for us to seek the differences between us. Rather, I would prefer hearing how we can make Chess (here and worldwide) a better sport. I would prefer to hear that we were free of such encumbrances as bigotry and hatred. So much for my preferences. FIDE, though not much better, has a motto which I think we should all follow he "We are all friends" (roughly translated---to be sure). Many years ago, I learned that "there is no substitue for winning". That attitude, cost me many years and friendships. For the humble hobbiest, as I prefer to be known, it is simply not acceptable to hate anyone. Chess, afterall, is supposed to be a game, a sport, a diversion from life's cares and woes, and a chance to think logically with all your pieces in view (on the board as it were), with nothing hidden, no impure motives, and certainly no skullduggery possible over the board. Would that life were as simple as a game of Chess. Cordially, Tom Klem "Chess One" wrote in message news:kzZ3e.10606$7b.2228@trndny05... Perhaps someone should tell her. And anyone you write for as well. Does ChessVile endorse your views, Philth? Apparently, I have no idea. My point was to exort posters and players alike
to have some consideration for the game of Chess, help promote Chess, and do so with kindness and good sportsmanship. My point is, this kind of hate speech (not by you, but purported in another newsgroup to be by you), is exactly what we don't need. It used to be that whoever uttered the word Hitler, ended the thread. Let me be the first: Hitler Tom Klem "Chess One" wrote in message news:ya%3e.2357$7b.2039@trndny04... Chess One wrote: I think its time to sue your ass. Phil Innes So Philth, let me understand things correctly. When you: - threaten to visit me with something "sharp"; - claim I am a "hate-monger" and spread "hate-speech"; - repeatedly claim I am the subject of multiple lawsuits; - continually threaten me with bogus lawsuits; - spread libel about me in emails to the USCF; - encourage a letter-writing campaign to my publishers; and - accuse me of criminal actions, its OK. And yet my direct citation of YOUR VERY OWN POST is subject to legal action? I think you are going to be VERY suprised, Philth. Since you recall from your unhappy time with sover.net how effective complaints to an ISP can be, I think I'll start there. As Yasser would say, Enjoy. |
