Here is a recap of what have been proposed.

FIRST ANNUAL RGCP GRUDGE MATCH:
Sloan vs. Brock in Chicago, draw odds to Sloan

MATCH TERMS:
Venue: Offices of William H. Brock, Ltd.
(address found he
http://www.billbrock.net/contact.html)
Playing room: Bill Brock's 4th floor conference room
Dates: either June 25 & 26 or July 2 & 3
Match Schedule: Round 1 - Day 1, 11 a.m.
Round 2 - Day 1, 5 p.m.
Round 3 - Day 2, 11 a.m. (if necessary)
Round 4 - Day 2, 5 p.m. (if necessary)
Prize Fund: $1000, Winner takes all
Special Features: 1. Games may be simulcast on ICC
2. Game scores to be recorded and
posted to RGCP
Match Arbiter: ???? (we need an arbiter!)
The arbiter would enter moves as played
onto ICC
Match Conditions: Winner is the first person to
2.0 (if Sloan) or 2.5 (if Brock)
Match Rules: USCF's Official Rules of Chess,
5th edition
Rules of Note: 1. No cellphones
2. No baby in playing room
3. Baby at venue, outside of playing
room, only if accompanied by another
adult person (e.g., babysitter)
4. Restroom runs only when accompanied
by match arbiter

To make this grudge match happen, we need the following
three things:

- $200 more for the prize fund pledged from sponsors
We have $500, $200, and $100 pledges. (Do I hear any
$50 pledges?)

- We need a Chicago-based match arbiter. Bill, do you
have any suggestions of Chicago people?

- We need Sam Sloan to:
* agree with the overall terms above
* select one of the two dates

Some "nice to have" things:

- Sam Sloan won't get a plane ticket unless sponsors
come up with an extra $120 over the straight busfare

Deadline: I need an answer (at least a firm commitment to one of the
two dates above) by midnight CST. Or no match.

Arbiter: I would not wish this on my friends--I think a small
honorarium needs to be paid. I would be willing to pay for arbiter,
but then there's the appearance of impropriety if there's a dispute.

Yikes. Putting the match in the office of one of the players?

- We need a Chicago-based match arbiter. Bill, do you
have any suggestions of Chicago people?

And asking one of the players to name the arbiter?

- Sam Sloan won't get a plane ticket unless sponsors

Why don't you have the match online, like how Fischer played that
Havana tournament. That is, have each player sit at a chessboard at
some chess club (NY and Chicago respectively) and have an arbiter
present at each end, along with any spectators who want to watch, and
someone to relay moves from the chessboard to a computer. That would
save bus/plane fare and give enough safeguards against cheating.

An elaboration would be appropriate.

The man is a convicted felon and a habitual liar.

I would trust the arbiters on the other end to take the usual
precautions, but the usual precautions might not be sufficient.

I hesitated to have the game simulcast for that same reason--makes
cheating easier--but I felt the backers were owed the courtesy.
