John you are generally correct though short sighted if a building appreciates at one rate vs another that must be considered. There are two types of depreciation regarding the life of the building which for tax purposes depreciates at one rate and physically may at another rate. A high rate of appreciation for a building would be difficult to maintain, but yours like Sam Sloan's manner of blunt embelishment added to what I said when you should of literally considered how what I said exemplified the distinctions between the two investments which you disregarded as we can presume you supported the EB members who approved of the matter. In any case maybe you might get the idea instead of blaming the messenger as you do. "John J." wrote in message ... To assume an appreciation of 15% over a 44 year period for a building in Newburg is preposterous. John "The Pushed Pawn" wrote in message news:6w29f.6192$bD.4990@trndny01... USCF Crossville Tennessee Building Construction a Bad Investment by Andrew Zito October 29. 2005. Though I am not an architect nor in the construction trades recently I mentioned in passing references views that generally challenged accepted references regarding the USCF decision to construct a building for its use as a headquarters at the new location of Crossville Tennessee . I write this at the bequest of Mr. Sam Sloan who expressed that it was generally accepted within USCF circles that such a building would be constructed of masonry and be of a permanent long lasting nature rather than frame stud construction. SUCH A BARGAIN!
Even though I might have preferred an all masonry structure, it appears that the wood frame and brick veneer structure is pretty typical for the area. As long as it's maintained properly and checked for termites regularly there's every reason to expect that the building will last longer than any of us will. -- Joel Channing So, then, the building in Crossville will be wood with a brick "veneer." It will be about 40 to 45 percent the size of the structure in New Windsor. It will cost more than the sale price of the structure in New Windsor. For this bargain, the Federation ends up in the Cumberland Gap. The termites? Here's betting that the building will not be checked regularly for termites (an accidental oversight by a relative of the local architect) and there will be plenty of business down the years for the local good ol' boys. That is also one of the traditions in a place such as Crossville. |

POINT OF CLARIFICATION
Point of clarification: I was only responding to the question of how the building was being built. -- Joel Channing We are well aware that Mr. Channing was elected to the board after the hideous decision to sell the building in New Windsor or the choice of Cross-to-Bear that was pushed through by Beatriz Marinello. Alas, his hands were tied. |

I easily can obtain all brick buildings that can be made ready for about
$100,000 rather than the $600,000 projected but I guess a regular USCF member is just good enough to get messed around with cause we are all @#$%^&* right? Why is it that BRADY WAS ADDRESSED ON THIS ISSUE AAS WELL AS SLOAN AND DID NOTHING? I SAID $100k not $600k all you crooks and charletons!!!! STOP ROBBING THE KIDS Hon. Rev. Andrew Zito Esq. P.O.Box 1615 Altoona, Pa 16603 BTW Mister Channing's expertise is in development of new construction which is distinctively different from old construstion rehab sub-prime alternative construction in that the financing and investment is distinctive as it is unrepresentative of the population the average person drived second hand vehicles and lives in older houses only a select few buy new cars or live in new houses wrote in message oups.com... We should bring the USCF back to New Windsor so Bill Goichberg can keep
an eye on it. All the drugs, prostitution and crimes in Newburgh is pale in comparision to Crossville, TN. Sam Sloan |
