Default 2nd Annual RGCP Grudge Match

June 26, 2005 was the date of the 1st Annual RGCP Grudge Match. Eleven
months afterwards, this historic matchup is still mentioned in RGCP.
But how can we say it was the first, unless there is a 2nd also? Well,
fear not.

It is almost time for the 2nd Annual RGCP Grudge Match, but I am
honestly uncertain about who should be the contenders this time.
Everyone on here is so full of vile and spit against everyone else that
it seems just about any two RGCPers would do.

Well, as last time, I'll toss my money in this time to sponsor if we
have some co-sponsors and we can find a pair of contenders and terms.
Only this time, I'll double up and stake $1500 this time on the match
if there are some co-sponsors that would agree to come up with another
$750.

So let's open the discussion. Which RGCPers would we like to see face
off against each other OTB?

I should also ask potential contenders, which of you would be willing
to play in a two person match if you were nominated? (Now potential
contestants, don't hold out hoping for me to double up again next year
and kick in $3K for the 3rd Annual RGCP Grudge Match, because if I
can't pull off this year's match, next year's match won't happen!)

And as last time, I'll ask potential co-sponsors, which of you would be
willing to put up some money for one of the few interesting and "real"
things that ever happen on RGCP?

Maybe Larry Parr would play against Sam Sloan.

THE ODD COUPLE

I will put in $100 toward a Sloan-Kingston match.

You have venom and spit on the Kingston side and
a wonderful joie de vivre on the Sloan side. The two
make the ideal Odd Couple -- Mr. Kingston as a vile
Felix and Mr. Sloan as an authentic Oscar.

Another decent matchup would be Innes-Kingston
or, for those who enjoy grand guignol, Evans-Kingston.

Innes-Brennen: a natural. The Brattleboro
Battler vs. the Pennyslvania Polka. Phil will fly
over Julian Simpole to act as his second, whereas Neil
will have Ed Winter in his corner. No referee. For
this one, there will be a cage. Winner-take-all.

A Rynd-Dowd match would prove interesting. The
two personalities could fight it out in Chicago, with
Bill Brock acting as arbiter.

Ah! William Brock. Certainly, this obsessed
character deserves to figure in any rgcp match
speculations and peculations.

A Brock-Sutter match might settle once and for
all who played the strongest attacking variation
against youthful opponents. At the moment, Mr. Brock
is on record as claiming to be Bob Sutter's superior,
but only a match will settle this issue.

Greg Kennedy? The man tries, but he never comes
up with stuff that creates authentic enemies. Vinnie
Hart? A minor rgcp personality. Louie Blair? No one
cares. Randy Bauer? Two possibilities are
Evans-Bauer or Keene-Bauer. The winner -- heh, heh,
heh -- can take the $2,250 and demand another $5,000
from Mr. Bauer, who often asserts his financial
success in milking the public sector and who would
then be expected to pony up for a chance to play a
match with either of the GMs. GM Keene would likely
play a Nimzo-Indian against Mr. Bauer. Heh, heh, heh.

The above is written in the well-known spirit of
the annual rgcp match.

How sporting of Parr to wish to pair me with a GM. The guy is nothing if
not a bully, at least when he doesn't have to be personally involved.

How about Parr-Bauer instead? I'll play the Nimzo-Indian against you and
heh, heh, heh, promise to use decent theoretical works (i.e., not Keene) for
preparation.

The above is written in the spirit of one who actually contributed to the
purse to make last year's event a reality-- but I understand that facts and
reality are Parr's strong suit.

I'm in for a hundred on:

Bauer versus Grim Repa
or
Nick Bourbaki versus Help Bot

GRUDGE MATCHES

Are Greg Kennedy and Nick Bourbaki on bad terms?
If not, with all due respect to Mike Murray, this
would not qualify as a grudge match.

Now, then, I decline Randy Bauer's challenge to
a match because ... let me list all of NM Taylor
Kingston's reasons for skedaddling away from playing.
You know, "standards" and an easily offended olfactory
organ and the like.

We all know the NM Kingston line.

But nah. None of that NM Kingston ego-saving
junk. I won't play because I am completely confident
that Mr. Bauer would whip my posterior. That's why.
Wipe the floor with me. Flush me down that deeply
beloved crapper of his.

I thank Mr. Bauer for writing, "I understand
that facts and reality are Parr's strong suit."

Concerning my being a bully by wishing to match
Mr. Bauer against either GM Evans or GM Keene, that is
one way to look at the idea. There is even some truth
in the proposition.

However, I had rather hoped that Mr. Bauer would
jump at the chance to play a rated match against one of
these men. It would have shown some respect on his
part for the royal game and its greats. As for the
fee he would pay, it would not be large for our former
government bureaucrat who has often waxed loudly about
his successful milking, if not bilking, of monies from
those who are taxed.

Reminds me of the William Blake quote - "a truth that's told with bad
intent Beats all the lies you can invent." Parr is nothing if not
inventive.

If the insinuation is that I do not respect Evans and Keene as players,
it is incorrect.

I sleep fine at night knowing that I work hard for my wages. While
budget director for the State of Iowa, we weathered a national fiscal
crisis for states that was called the worst since the Great Depression.
While several surrounding states were being downgraded or put on
negative outlook, Iowa maintained its budget and its AA+ credit rating
and stable outlook without raising taxes. I take pride in that
accomplishment. Now, in the private sector, I work with several
governments in fiscal distress, and we've achieved positive results in
getting them back on a sound financial footing. I take pride in that
as well. When it comes right down to it, I'll take pride in my work
over wages any day.

I wonder if authors who rehash warmed over topics from years gone by or
churn out second rate data dumps can say the same.

Randy Bauer
