Subject: Application for FIDE membership by the National Chess
Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis

Dear Mr. Leong

I am writing to you as General Secretary of FIDE. Our firm represents
the Charleston Chess Association, LLC which is the National Chess
Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis.

The Chess Federation did apply for FIDE membership in February 2006
(please see a copy of the application and annexes attached).

By email of April 17, 2006 (see copy attached) you did ask a few
questions with regard to this application which I can answer you on
behalf of our client as follows:

1. correct: Saint Christopher and Nevis is one country.
2. The official FIDE name should be "Federation of Saint Christopher
and Nevis".
Please note that the email address of the president of the
applicant has changed from the one mentioned in the application, the
new email address is:

3. There is no official certification by the NOC or Ministry of Sports
of Saint Christopher and Nevis so far and according to your handbook
this is no condition for a membership. In the documents you find
evidence that the Charleston Chess Association is duly incorporated.

4. article XVIII of the statutes of the Chess Federation refers to the
constitution of Saint Christopher and Nevis which provides rules for an
potential future independency of the island of Nevis.

5. any citizen of Saint Christopher and Nevis can get a life membership
to the Chess Federation upon payment of requested membership fee.

Reviewing the FIDE handbook, chapter 2, the conditions for a FIDE
membership of the National Chess Federation of Saint Christopher and
Nevis should herewith be fulfilled. Please let us know if you need any
additional information and in the mean time, please let us know when
the next FIDE ExecutiveBoard/Presidential Board meeting will take place
to decide about the application.

I am looking forward to hearing from you
Best regards
Catherine Mueller
