I read thousands of letters written by Thomas Jefferson in his own

Where were these thousands of Jefferson letters located?

I assume that you are editor or one of the editors of the 40-year
project to publish all of the letters of Thomas Jefferson. I assume
that Mr. Peterson and his predecessor have died. That is what happens
when you start to do a project that you know is going to last 40
years.

In that case, you must know that most of the original letters of
Thomas Jefferson are with the Massachusetts Historical Society. I
presume that they got there when Martha Jefferson, daughter of Thomas
Jefferson, broke up with her husband, Thomas Mann Randolph Jr., and
moved to Massachusetts for a time.

However, I purchased a copy of Thomas Jefferson's Farm Book which was
on sale at Poplar Forest. This contains photocopies of the original. I
virtually memorized it. I also went through all the volumes which had
been published by Princeton University up until that time. As I am
sure you already know, he never mentioned Sally in any of his letters.
Thomas Jefferson wrote often about his other slaves, but not one word
about Sally, except in his Farm Book and accounts book.
