Are there any Gay Chess Tournaments besides the ones Tanner was hosting at
his house? It seems like a no-brainer, that a Chess Tournament for Gays/Lesbians would be popular in New York or San Francisco. Something like The Black Chess Championship would probably be a big hit in Detroit, Harlem, and other parts of the USA with large urban populations. The USCF needs to start thinking like other sports that cater to various minority groups. Baseball and Disney World both have Gay Days, and some sports have days dedicated to Pet Owners, and a variety of other supporters. Chess Tournaments oriented to specific groups would get out the casual players who might become more seriously involved. Lower fees would be a plus. |

What about a pot smoker's open Chess Touranment in California? That
would MAKE MONEY! BRING YOUR OWN POT. Sam - you can come to that chess tournament if I host it! I don't see a reason why you should invite only gay or lesbian people
to a chess tournament. If they want to play chess, go to a normal tournament, if they want to meet gay/lesbian people, go to such a meeting. |
