I believe, but I could be mistaken so correct me if I am wrong, that
the subsequent interzonals were of the big Swiss variety, which were
much cheaper.

The Interzonal that I was trying to organize in the US Virgin Islands
was to have been an 18-player round robin, with 16 qualified players
plus two local players.

I wanted the two local players to be Zsuzsa Polgar, who had been
disqualified by the Hungarian Chess Federation from playing in the
Zonal in Warsaw because she was a woman (this was for the "Men's World
Championship") and a little known 17-year-old grandmaster named Anand
who I thought had a great future.

I paid a deposit fee to FIDE, but negotiations broke down when Dr. Lim
informed me that the Hungarians were refusing to allow Zsuzsa to play,
and FIDE could not agree to let her play as long as her home federation
would not agree.

I behalf of the people and government of Saint Christopher and Nevis, I
formally protest this RACIST CHESS TOURNAMENT where no citizen of St
Kitts and Nevis can play. As a multimillionare, I suggeest future
problems with the tournaments.

I intend to disrput the World Chess Championship as long as St Kiits
and Nevis can't play.
