Very interesting. It seems obvious that he really was cheating:

":In fact, right through the year, Umakant has been among those under
suspicion of using unfair means to gain the desired results. Umakant
began the year at a modest 1933 and, after playing just 64 games,
reached a whopping 2484 on October 1. During this period, Umakant won a
few tournaments ahead of several illustrious players."

No normal person goes from 1933 to 2484 in just oner year.

Amazing. The guy gained 595 FIDE Rating points in just six months from
April to October, 2006.

Definitely a cheater.

I heard a news that, His perfomance in the last one year made him
suspicious. ut there is no proof agaist him.

Now the Indian "National A" tournament is undergoing and he is playing
the same. He lost first game agaist a lower rated player. I think his
perfomance in this tournament is more imp...

Part of news

"If you go through all his games of the last Nationals, you'll notice,
move after move, his choice matches those suggested by a software (used
by the players in their preparations). Even Viswanathan Anand cannot
reel off the best moves with such consistency as Diwakar did in the
last National `A'," was Ganguly's vehement declaration.
