Matt Nemmers has organized a group of posters here to sign up to play e-mail
chess as a team - I understand he has enough players to begin, so wonder if he has challenged or been challenged by any other team yet? Meanwhile, Rob Mitchell's initiated tournament is heading to a close, with slower moves in, now, critical positions. About 4 or 5 people who post here are taking part, joined by 4 random participants from around the world - some of whom are doing okay against us. Phil Innes |

Phil Innes I didn't realize that a "team" tournament actually involved us all playing against other teams. Seems like quite an unruly format, since we must find another team with the same number of mates. I know we've been through this before -- but if everyoneon the letsplaychess.com server could supply their names I will start a double round-robin among (or as Phil would say, amongst -- ugh) us. I'm having a bad time in general OTB and online. Went 0-4-2 at the Liberty Bell Open and tonight I lost to one of my regular punching bags, hanging a piece (I simply forgot to re-take). I also lost to a 1600-ish player on the letsplaychess server in Rob Mitchell's tournament. Neither one of us realized my Q was en prise for two moves. Finally he took. Blah. At least there is ICC, where I'm still over 2000. Let's see what I can do about that. |

Dunno how strong Grant is, but Randy is a master, and Angelo is 2000-some. How many more we need until we challenge the Coastguards? Where are all the Sany-slayers? Come on Jerzy, we need you! Phil |

Phil I would love to see all of the corrospondence masters play. After all, this is there type of game. Most give the response that it is "beneath them" to play against me because it might sully their reputations. I am proud to say that both Angelo and Matt and Inconnux have thrased me terribly! Angelo tried to have pity on me and begged me to resign so I might save some dignity while in another game my play resembled something a trained monkey might play. Matt has simply crushed me in a tactical game and Phil bloodies my nose by the 12th move in almost every game. I am not afraid to play anyone. I try to learn from every game and try to make a friend by the end of each. Perhaps thats the real reason some of these people wont play. If they did and found out that being friendly was possible then they would have no reason to post anything at all. Rob |

I invited everyone today but I can't figure out a way to see who has accepted. And supposedly Grant Perks has changed his online name, but how do I re-invite him? adp |
