Polgar/Truong caught red handed
Pasted from http://bradenbournival.com/?p=7
Quote:
A NY Times article came out today concerning the
lawsuit Sam Sloan has filed against Susan Polgar and
Paul Truong, among others. Sam Sloan has accused
Polgar/Truong of impersonating him on various internet
chess boards. I have seen some of these fake posts first
hand, and I guess this impersonator has been at it for 18
months or so.
Before I go any further, I'd like to say that I think Sam
Sloan is one of the lowest forms of life living on this
earth. If there were no laws, I'm sure someone would
have whacked him by now. It's exactly people like him
who bring the USCF down to a new level time after time.
As far as the accusations are concerned, it seems as if
Sam Sloan may very well be in the right. According to
Brian Mottershead, who was previously working on the
USCF website, the IP address of the Fake Sam Sloan
match the IP address Paul Truong/Susan Polgar use
when they post on the USCF Forum. Truong has
suggested that he believes his IP address was "spoofed".
When I first saw this I LOLed. It's impossible to "spoof"
an IP address like that, if it could be done I would be A
LOT richer from my Spam days.
The only way Paul Truong's IP address could end up on
those posts is if:
A) Somone installed malicious software on his
computer, turning it into an open proxy. Then for 18
months they used Truong's infected computer to post on
the Online Chess Boards. There are probably under 1000
people in the US who are capable of pulling this type of
thing off. I'm sure most of these highly skilled people
have better things to do than frame Truong/Polgar.
B) Brian Mottershead changed the logs on the USCF
database. This is possible, but I'm sure the USCF has
backups of the databases. If Mr. Mottershead never had
access to the backups, like he claims on the Daily Dirt
forum, then this should be easy to disprove.
C) Paul Truong actually impersonated Sam Sloan. This
is by far most likely given the current information.
So it seems like another sad day for the USCF. The
USCF has a problem finding good people to run the
organization. The reason is because in order to want to
do this job, you have to be a ****en lunatic to begin with.
Most people who get into USCF politics are washed up
chess players who have no power or success elsewhere,
and use USCF politics as an outlet. Until the USCF
starts getting highly motivated young people instead of
old washed up losers, this **** will continue to happen.
