How do you know the "moderator" on the blog is an atheist? It is true that I once had a great deal of sympathy for her. You completely missed my point. Announcements of threats against 'family members' in an attempt to gain sympathy have a long tradition on RGCP. I'm not impressed by people who use such alleged threats for PR purposes. |

The irony of Bill Brock telling anyone else to "be constructive" is mind-boggling. |

Unconstructively crossposted from the Open Forum
*** Blogger Bill Brock said... Re the 6:05 CDT post: obvious man said... "Goichberg is so hated on this forum. Did he have anything to do with the controversial move to Crossville? Did he hire friends and family to USCF positions? Was he responsible for holding a national tournament in Oklahoma? What, exactly, did he do to earn him vitriol?" Goichberg decided on a personal crusade to destroy Susan Polgar through his actions against her and her chldren as President of USCF. As a result of this, Goichberg has earned the scorn and curses of thousands of Susan Polgar fans from around the world. There will be parties of celebration when Goichberg is out of power. He has no right to soil the reputation of GM Polgar! Pass it on! Saturday, April 12, 2008 6:05:00 PM CDT "[A]nd her children"? Not a credible claim. If you were in the habit of signing your name, Obvious Man, you would not be experiencing your current problems. Saturday, April 12, 2008 10:38:00 PM CDT *** Anonymous most obvious man said... ""[A]nd her children"? Not a credible claim. If you were in the habit of signing your name, Obvious Man, you would not be experiencing your current problems." Again, you mistake me for someone else. On the Internet, everyone is a dog. As we all know, dogs have a good sense of smell and I smell a dirty rat-like Laugherty attack. You guys work together with Goich-nerd and Sloani to attack innocent people. Just read Sloanis reply to the judge. It mentions not only personal information leak to Sloani, but it attacks Susan's children! Laugherty, you and Sloani are evil human beings! How can you stand yourselves? *** Saturday, April 12, 2008 11:36:00 PM CDT Blogger Bill Brock said... I believe my attitude towards Sloan may be on record somewhere, most obvious man. The opinion that Sloan has in the past advanced Goichberg's interests is not exactly an uncommon one: I have expressed it myself. Assuming arguendo that all you say is correct, to ascribe a *particular vile act* by Sloan to Goichberg would seem unjustified. Sunday, April 13, 2008 12:13:00 AM CDT *** Blogger Bill Brock said... Offered merely as a curiosity. Use Acrobat search to find the cited passage.... http://tinyurl.com/5p6mgm THE EVOLUTION OF CRAYFISHES OF THE GENUS ORCONECTES SECTION LIMOSUS "The section of the limosus stock inhabitating the Pliocene Cincinnati River and the Cincinnati Uplands was forced westward through sluiceways nicked into the Knobstone scarp by the Muscatatuck River. After surviving in the unglaciated re-entrant of southern Indiana, the population spread eastward in post-Kansan times to occupy the gently sloping west-facing flank of the Niagaran scarp in southeastern Indiana. The species probably did not occupy a very wide area for the Muscatatuck drainage was bounded on the east and south by the unbeveled lip of the Niagaran limestones. Had the species reached Laugherty Creek or the Ohio River, O. sloani would be represented today in the crayfish fauna of Kentucky." |

The poster identified himself as one A----- M-----, who at that time (as can be confirmed via readily- available sources independent of yours truly), was a correspondent of S-----. http://tinyurl.com/5gp7pz (My comments allude to material deleted on both the blog and Wikipedia.) I say this simply to note that IMO, the threats were not imaginary. Thanks for the context Bill. However, linkage to Bill Goichberg seems ludicrous on its face. It caused me to question. Does libel mean anything anymore? I would appreciate it if *all* parties would omit the children from the discussion going forward. This is wise. Yet the moderator left it in on Susan's blog... Not surprising. Gotta build up sympathy for Susie. In my haste (something about 4/15?), I merely scanned instead of reading & misunderstood the implied subject of "gotta." My apologies (again!) to The Historian. |

The translation is painfully bad - not quite as bad as the Blitzstein translation but still unbearable. There is, however, a superb recording, namely the 1958 Lotte Lenya production with several excellent Cabaret singers, in particular Trude Hesterberg. |

The translation is painfully bad - not quite as bad as the Blitzstein translation but still unbearable. Traddutore, traditore.... Painfully bad? There are some infelicities in the text linked upthread, but the Manheim/Willett translation was substantially reworked for B'way (as I discovered between returns last night) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PEN/Ral...or_Translation Don't get hung up on words or music or Raul Julia's inadequacies, but go with the experience. There is, however, a superb recording, namely the 1958 Lotte Lenya production with several excellent Cabaret singers, in particular Trude Hesterberg. Lenya is Lenya. I've listened to the Lenya/Thurn Mahagonny (1958?) a couple times this tax season--in fact, it's sitting on my desk. |
