Default USCF EB to gain active players

The election of Beatrice Marinello, Tim Hanke and Don Schultz to the USCF
Executive Board now means that "active players" will now join the ranks of a
body that has been historically occupied by "inactive players." All three
elected individuals are regular over-the-board players.
Compare this to the current composition of the board:

President McCrary, doesn't even have an established rating; last published
rating is 1488/24 from an old list (God knows how long ago)

Vice President Shutt, rated 1961, hasn't played OTB since 1997

VP-Finance chief Camaratta, rated 2320, hasn't played OTB since 1992

Secretary Smith, rated 1485, hasn't played since 1997

Member-at-large Brady, rated 1823, hasn't played OTB since 2000

Member-at-large Wagner, rated 1705, active player

Member-at-large Denker, rated 2251, active or semi-active player (depending on
his illness)

As you can see, the current EB is composed primarily of chess politicians,
those who no longer play over the board.
It is refreshing to have board members who are active players, as opposed to
having individuals who were active in the past and may be "resting on their
laurels."
It is a credit to all the candidates in this year's election that they all can
be viewed as active players. That has not been the case of EB candidates in the
past.

This one, at least, is a gross error. Accordingly, I'm sure your batting
average on the others is down to your usual standards of inaccuracy.

In the 1970s, Chess Life listed everybody's rating with a 1 (fewer than 100
games), 2 (100-299 games), or 3 (300 games or more). Helen Warren was a 3,
even then.
