Ah, but sometimes history repeats itself.

Another thing is that the winner (of a war or a game) often tends to
overestimate the role of skill vs. that of luck / circumstances-beyond-control
in the final outcome. Dabbling (as with Fritz) after-the-fact can lead to a
more realistic perspective, you damn Yankee. :-)

Admittedly, the 'discussion' in these chess forums has been
rather silly and often filled with provocative bickering,
and really doesn't belong here at all, but that's not an
indication that all such discussion is useless.



You know, if the United States had not developed the Bomb until say, 2003, we
could have held the world for ransom: yes, we could have demanded *the entire
world* pay us...ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS...or else!
