Subject: What is going on with Frank N.?
From: "StanB" Date: 07/30/2003 8:24 AM Eastern Daylight Time Message-id: "Recmate" wrote in message ... I started running tournaments full time in 1967 with no money. For about 25 years I barely got by, probably averaging less than the minimum wage. About 1993-1994 I learned how to do things better and since then have averaged about $75,000 income per year. My goodness, you make less then the ED? How do you explain those fancy cars? StanB Are you referring to my 1978 Chevy Impala wagon? Bill Goichberg |

Now that it is 25 years old it is an antique. Therefore it must be worth a bundle. Well it will be when you repair those rust holes. StanB |

"Jerome Bibuld" wrote in message ... Most, if not all, of the characters who post these ad hominem attacks have no knowledge of chess history -- or of ANY history, for that matter. The claims that you have made $300,000 a year are simply intended to make people angry at you. Not only are they not based on any knowledge by the claimants, but they are lies made up from whole cloth. It is not worth your while to respond to them. Dear Suffering Christ, It was not an attack. It was a satire of what Dorsch once said. Bill knows I know the truth because we have discussed it in person. The fancy cars are a joke too because I have seen that piece of **** he drives. But you are such a "glass is half empty" paranoid nut case you read evil into each and everything. Yet, you see good in the likes of Stalin, Hitler, and Hussein. Go figure. StanB |

Wait a minute: I'm a Life Member, so if the LMA isn't funded, I lose. This is so confusing. Tim Hanke |

Subject: What is going on with Frank N.? From: (Scott) Date: 07/30/2003 7:45 PM Eastern Daylight Time Message-id: How much do the hotels charge you? -Scott The larger tournaments usually get enough room nights to avoid meeting room rent. The smaller ones often pay about $1000 to $2000. Bill Goichberg "Bill Goichberg. It was reported he makes 300,000 a year. How else could he afford those fancy cars he drives. (StanB) ============== I know nothing about BG's personal finances but it seems to me he began his career as a chess promoter with a lot of money... maybe family money. I don't think he started small and worked his way up the financial ladder from chess alone. I started running tournaments full time in 1967 with no money. For about 25 years I barely got by, probably averaging less than the minimum wage. About 1993-1994 I learned how to do things better and since then have averaged about $75,000 income per year. If he makes $300,000 per year I'd doubt all comes from chess tournaments. He must have some non-chess investments or business activities. I have never made $300,000, or even half that, in one year. Anyone who claims that is probably using the "entry fees minus prizes" method of calculation, overlooking other expenses (for instance, CCA sends out about 350,000 pieces of mail each year and pays another $50,000 or so for advertising). "Tim Hanke" wrote in message ... Tim, -snip- Frank Niro personally assured me that he intends to devote surplus funds from the building sale to the technology upgrade. But the sale has to happen, before he knows what's available. I have been hearing about this sale for how long now? He told me this, because he saw your post in which you mentioned quitting your posts, and he was distressed by it. He said, "This is when we *need* him to help." If a clear plan is published in writing by no later than the end of the LA Board of Delegates meeting that explicitly commits a certain dollar figure, contingent upon the sale/mortgage of the building at "X" dollars, which is also accepted by the current CIO to be sufficient to complete they upgrade, I will remain as a delegate and on any committees that either the BOD or EB would like me to serve on. The USCF's management needs to give the upgrade the priority, committment, attention, and push that it has needed, but not been given, for many years now. As a priority I would rank it just behind meeting payroll and paying the utilities. Just passing on what I've been told. You may want to have your own conversation with Frank. Frank is welcome to call me. -smile- Seriously, words are cheap. I have heard a lot of promising words over the past several years. But, the time for more words is long over. I'm looking for a concrete commitment and action. I have been waiting for this upgrade for nearly five years now. Sorry, my patience is gone. George |

Dear George, You keep talking about this "upgrade", as if it will save the sinking UCSF, but you have yet to mention a thing about it. Why do we need this "upgrade" so desperately, when the current system obviously works well enough? This looks like another Game Parlor disaster in the making; why don't we just save the money while we have it, instead of dumping it into another sink hole? -- mcf |
