John:

I always have a good email list and advertising on the state website. I
still
notice a difference in attendance when I have a TLA.

I'm sure you're right, Wick. The Masters I guess is just a bizarre case, which
didn't get a SINGLE entry from a TLA. Of course maybe people were lying when I
asked them how they learned about the tournament and came to it.

With all due respect when you a

(a) targeting only very strong players
(b) within a limited geographical area
(c) that happens to be the largest metropolitan area in th U.S.; and
(d) are operating from a club with a long and storied history,

a TLA doesn't do you much, if any, good.

Assuming that's true for the rest of us, is questionable.

Heil Dubya!

Oops! I forgot to mention that I received one copy of the September CHESS
LIFE, in White Plains, NY, three days ago (Thursday, 21 August). I still am
"owed" four copies of that issue, for two of my (Life Member) children and my
two affiliates.

Got my Chess Life Saturday, August 23rd in New York City.
