George:

Some of your posts point out things that REALLY need improvement about USCF,
but this one makes me think that you need to bet out more often.

Was there a point to this?

I can only speak to Indiana's State Championship, which takes place in mid
September so as not to conflict with the Labor Day events in Ohio, Michigan and
Illinois.

Our attendance has rebounded from a dip in the late 90s, and is consistant with
previous levels, if not a little bit better. The prize fund is a bit larger.

It would be interesting to see if the GP levels have gone down at the same rate
as the prize funds. With the GP's diminshed stature, organizers may be putting
less of their prize funds into the Prizes which qualify for GP points.
