So, my questions a 1.Why was Ilyumzhinov so prompt in canceling the match? Why didn’t he try to meet both Kasparov and Ponomariov in person, as the latter proposed him to do, to seek the way out of the stand-off? To what end? Pono's refusal to sign by the deadline was beyond the boundaries of reason. 2. Why didn’t Kasparov who presumably wanted to play (and win!) this match accept the cancellation of the match? Why didn't he accept it? I don't understand the question. What choice does he have but to accept it? Isn’t Kirsan’s decision to cancel the match reminiscent of Campomanes’ decision to abort the first match between Karpov and Kasparov in February 1985? No, I see a large difference between cancelling a match before the fact to cancelling a match 48 games in progress. No basis of comparison, really. 3.Why, now being reintegrated into the FIDE system, does Kasparov have the privilege to play another title match with the winner of FIDE KO World Championsship-2003? He who destroyed the World Championship system and broke away from FIDE… Get over 1993 already. Ancient history. It's in FIDE's interest to include Kasparov in the re-unification process 10 years later. FIDE agreed in Prague that kasparov would play the FIDE champion. FIDE subsequently found it necessary to replace the current FIDE champion as Kasparov's opponent. |

He seems to have a special kind of privileges like e.g. Karpov in his match against Anand in Lausanne in 1998. Regards, Jerzy |

Remember, rosters for that were determined well *before* Prague was signed. Maybe Kasparov guessed correctly about the Financial situation of Einstein/Brain Games? John Fernandez |
