Default Rules Question: pairing twice? (was: Rules Question)

On 06 Sep 2003 at 21:34:59 GMT, Bill Goichberg scribbled:
-I would keep a 5-round Swiss with 5 players as a Swiss and let
-players face each other twice if necessary, which is perfectly
-legal under the circumstances.

The general concept behind this has a name. It's called the
Italian Pairing System. See Martin E. Morrison's TOURNAMENT DIREC-
TION GUIDE AND MANUAL, July 1971, page 8.7. (Which referred to my
publishing of January 25, 1971.) The variation limiting pairings
between specific players to two times was called the Semi-Italian
System.
