You know, because you're a chess player and a Mensa member and an all around good guy, I'd cut that fine in half. Ah, but if you were king of the forest, anyone who dialed your number that you didn't want to talk to while you were reading your newspaper, would be shot. No, I wouldn't. I'd just hurt 'em a little. Well, OK, maybe a little more. |

If telemarketers slip up and call only 10% of the expected 60 million and
trigger a complaint, the courts would be flooded with 6 million cases requiring some kind of due process. Florida was the first state to have a do not call list. Only 5 or 6 people run that department. The number of cases they've actually pursued is tiny. RSHaas |

RSHaas You think this is a joke, you ought to try and download and read a copy of the No Child Left Behind Act and see what the Federal Government's expectations (and punishments) are for the school systems nationwide. This from a country that was toppled into a recession by the destruction of a couple of buildings from a terrorist attack. One of these days, people are going to realize two things in this country: 1) There is not enough money to solve every problem completely to everyone's satisfaction. 2) Military power cannot solve all political problems in the world. Prevent the offender from availing himself and his relatives of the no-call option for a year. After twelve months, there would not be a problem or his family would disown him. And post his name here on the rgcp so that we can call him at inconvenient times, asking him if he would like to change his long distance service OR telling him that he has just won one of four valuable prizes. "ASCACHESS" wrote in message ... Tell them that you would like to be removed from all thier calling lists. They are then required by law to read you a little paragraph that lets you know that you will be removed and that the process may take as long as 30 days. DO NOT HANG UP ON THEM! If you simply hang up or put the phone down, then they WILL call you back. So many people get upset and fly into hysterics when what they really need to do, if they truely want the calls to stop, is to calmly ask to be removed from the calling lists. That will guarantee that your number isnt on their lists for the next 10 years.--Bill "MBNA" Wong That may well be what is supposed to happen, but it is not what happens in reality. I have done as you directed and was recalled by the same firm on each of the next three days. Yes, but did you get any calls after the 30 day period? BTW, I think it may be 1 year rather than 10. If they continue to call you, the only recourse you have is to file a formal complaint; just like anything else in life, if someone wrongs you YOU have to spend time and energy getting it righted--Bill Wong |

Well, they put it back on... and a second court decision delayed it again.
