Default ANY GOOD TOURNAMENTS COMING UP IN U.K.

Can anyone please tell me if there are any good tournaments coming up
in U.K.
I would prefer open tournaments. Also, if there are any upcoming
tournaments with team events. Since me and my team members will be
touring U.K. in November can you tell me if there are any such
tournaments in November or December. Also, if there are any good
websites which will carry such information about tournaments in U.K.
and Europe in general.

Thanking You,

Chessplayer

There is Preston congress
its at Lancashire county coucil offices, Pitt Street, Preston - just across
the road from the train station so very easy to find.

Its on Nov28th to 30th.
Rd 1 starts 6.20pm on the Friday 28/11/03
Rd 2 9.30 am next day, Rd 3 2.10 and ditto rounds 4 and 5.

Sections are Open, U160, U125, 100.
A couple of years ago GM Mickey Adams turned up and GM Mark Hebden has
played there a few times but after that you are down to your ordinary
mortals of bcf 200 or lower.

Prizes in the Open are £260 for first , £150 for second, £70 for third then
3 £40 grading prizes.

there is a £40 team prise
And also you can get a bun and a brew inbetween rounds from the refreshments
stall! I ask you, what more could any visitor to our land ask for?
For further enquires or entry email

Please don't crosspost such questions to newsgroups where they don't belong.
This has nothing to do with either analysis or computer chess. There is a
REASON for having seperate newsgroups for different subjects.

If it has nothing to do with politics, analysis or computer chess, it
belongs in rec.games.chess.misc.
Amazing that you were unable to figure that out by yourself.
