Default Wizards of the Coast

The PHB and suits at Hasbro have decided to close all the Wizards of
the Coast retail stores (WOTC made Magic - the gathering card game and
distributed Pokemon cards in the USA)

Q1: Wasn't WOTC going to pump a lot of money into chess at one time?
If so, what happened?

Q2: Does any body know of any chess groups that used the open nights
at WOTC for a place to meet?

I don't know. After talking to several players, including myself and NM Ken
Wallach (who was a good magic player) they adopted swiss pairings, ELO ratings,
Swiss Sys, etc. You might try asking Ken.

Believe early on in the Seattle area they ran some chess events in their space
and brought some ads in NORTHWEST CHESS. Maybe some one has a better memory.
