The PHB and suits at Hasbro have decided to close all the Wizards of
the Coast retail stores (WOTC made Magic - the gathering card game and distributed Pokemon cards in the USA) Q1: Wasn't WOTC going to pump a lot of money into chess at one time? If so, what happened? Q2: Does any body know of any chess groups that used the open nights at WOTC for a place to meet? |

If so, what happened? I don't know. After talking to several players, including myself and NM Ken Wallach (who was a good magic player) they adopted swiss pairings, ELO ratings, Swiss Sys, etc. You might try asking Ken. Q2: Does any body know of any chess groups that used the open nights at WOTC for a place to meet? Kevin L. Bachler |

Believe early on in the Seattle area they ran some chess events in their space
and brought some ads in NORTHWEST CHESS. Maybe some one has a better memory. Russell Miller, Chelan WA |
