The world is literally crawling with GMs now, compared to that time

So, let me see. The population in the USA in the thirties was around 150
million and today, 70 years later is somewhere around 300 million. Roughly,
say 2 to 1. Are we under producing babies? GMs?

Probably both true, but my original point is that the GM pool offers many
more great players today than back in the day.
