Default Kasparov on "Fischer's Price"

David included this incident -- Bobby feeling crushed by Averbakh's
correction to his post-game analysis -- in his annotated "The Art of War." I
regret to tell David that he misunderstood what Fischer was saying about this.
The point was that Averbakh pointed out that had Byrne played the "right rook"
at move 14, Fischer's game would have been worse. Thus, if Averbakh was right,
Fischer's play leading up to that move was flawed, and his brilliancy was
"ruined."

Maybe in Fischer's mind, but to me that game is brilliant whether Rad1 would
have led to a small White advantage or not. That one is the true Game of the
Century, not the Donald Byrne game.
