Vince, you label everything I say as dishonest, without bothering to learn any
better. There are always two sides to a story, and you never ask for, or listen
to mine.

C'mon Vince. Get real.

I have listened to lots of your stories Kevin and I have asked you
plenty of questions but you always seem to have some excuse that
shifts the responsibility to someone else, e.g., "Bill did not
protect the dates for me;" "the USCF did not correct his rating (or
mine);" "the lawyers I talked to at lunch told me this was OK," "the
ICA Board didn't give me the information I needed;" "the USCF office
approved the tournament format;" "the treasurer didn't do his job;"
"Verber was jealous;" "my ICA successors didn't follow through on my
plans;" "you should have asked me whether my 'no' really meant 'yes';"
"Larry didn't tell Tim to tell me not to run the tournament;" or "the
guys in Springfield were not specific enough about what they
considered a conflict." No matter what goes wrong, you always find
somewhere else to lay the blame.

It is just not credible Kevin. It is statistically inconceivable that
anyone could be involved in as screwed up situations as you without
ever once being the cause of even one of them.

Will you be volunteering in Texas?

Absolutely. George John's already given me some great info. Though I'll
miss some of the good friends I've made here in Iowa and Illinois, I'm
looking forward to getting the hell outta here. Onto bigger and better.

Regards,

Matt

OK, I asked Bill to protect the dates. What would you have different.

"the lawyers I talked to at lunch told me this was OK,"

And it was. I understand that you don't like it, but it's actually a fairly
common approach.

"the
ICA Board didn't give me the information I needed;"

They didn't. I requested information that they never provided.

"the treasurer didn't do his job;"

He didn't. This is well documented by many others besides me.

"Verber was jealous;"

He was, and also well documented.

"my ICA successors didn't follow through on my
plans;"

They didn't.

"you should have asked me whether my 'no' really meant 'yes';"

Never said that. I said no meant no.

"Larry didn't tell Tim to tell me not to run the tournament;" or "the
guys in Springfield were not specific enough about what they
considered a conflict." No matter what goes wrong, you always find
somewhere else to lay the blame.

Wrong, Vince. I accept responsibility when I am responsible. I am accountable
for what I agreed to be accountable. Once again, you make accusations with no
background.

It is just not credible Kevin. It is statistically inconceivable that
anyone could be involved in as screwed up situations as you without
ever once being the cause of even one of them.

Vince Hart

But I have been the cause of some, Vince. If you happen to pick only those
where others were the cause, guess what -- I won't be the cause of them.

There are things where I have accepted accountability. But you won't bother to
find out things like this. You won't bother to discuss the ways in which I was
accountable. You've made up your mind based on one-sided stories and won't
listen to anything else.

You don't seem to see that agreeing to cover the losses on the banquet, or the
mailing IS being accountable for those ideas, Vince. You just skip over these.
You skip over the ways that a coach can accept accountability for the actions of
his team, because you don't take time to find those out. And when the banquet
lost money I made a donation and was prepared to donate more -- IF the treasurer
would provide the appropriate paperwork. The man didn't file taxes for nearly
two years, Vince, why is this so hard for you to believe?

I think this conversation has reached the whatever phase.

Patrolling the sewers no doubt. Be careful. A lot of folks have flushed
their pet alligators down the tawrlet.

That's what I heard. But while I'm down there I'll be keeping my eyes
peeled for my rating. Flushed that down the tawrlet a while ago, too.

Matt

Matt is to serve on a prairie schooner. His mission is to board and search any

Actually, I'll probably be serving on the back of a Ford F-150 manning the
..50-cal. Probably with orders, in the good ol' boy Texas tradition, to
shoot any Indians or blacks that appear hostile to Big Daddy White Boss.

Regards,

Matt

And such insects will be shipped to OCS.
