Activity & Ratings for US players by Chess One
Following a conversation in another newsgroup, here are some questions about adult and scholastic rating activities. Can anyone inform our knowledge on either subject? Thx, Phil Innes On more mundane issues I have 2 questions about rating frequency: it seems from previous correspondence that a) about 12,000 adult members played one rated game in the past 12 months -

Susan Polgar wrote: You are free to post my answer. Dear Bill, Sorry but I do not visit rec.games. However, my opinion about Mr. Sloan has not changed. In fact, it has become worse. Impeach Bush for Closing the Post Office by samsloan
Impeach Bush for Closing the Post Office I just came back from the post office. I went there to mail some DVDs that I had sold online. I was outraged to discover that the post office was closed for the Funeral of President Ford. The Post Office nationwide closed for a funeral! Outrageous. I have bills to pay, work to get done, a family to support. Am I supposed to stop everything just because...

Nolan and Goichberg are trying to muzzle me by samsloan
Mike Nolan and Bill Goichberg are trying to shut me up. I'm not going to sit back and be muzzled. I'll fight them all the way to the supreme court. I have one vote just like Bill Goichberg. Bill wants to be the next Hitler the Dictator. Vote for me for another 4 years so I can take Bill Goichberg and CCA down. Sam Sloan USCF Executive Board Big Shot

The God Delusion by RSHaas@aol.com
I've just begun reading "The God Delusion," by Oxford professor Richard Dawkins, a noted atheist and author of many books on the subject. What I like most about Dawkins is his evangelical zeal for atheism. Most atheist seem to be rather passive sorts. His web site is www.richarddawkins.net which includes an atheist help and resource center wherein are listed the contact info for many...

Dirty stuff from Nolan, Vaughn and Brock by samsloan
They're trying to invalidate my election petition by forcing me to show the names of the people who signed my petition. That's dirty tactic from them. Why should I tell them who signed my petition? It's none of their business. Sam Sloan

Gerald Ford, The Greatest President Who Ever Lived by samsloan
Gerald Ford, The Greatest President Who Ever Lived I have been watching with a combination of amusement and disgust the gaudy display that his been going on during the past few days, where speaker after speaker has described Gerald Ford in the most laudatory terms imaginable. One would imagine that Gerald Ford was the greatest president who ever lived, and possibly the greatest man in the...

How can I become a US chess professional ?? by Zero
I read an article in Chess Life discussed how all the russian players that immigrated to the US during the 70s and 80s changed tournaments and how they play chess to make a living. I think that this sounds really interesting and the benefits are wonderful. I would just have to play a tournament each weekend with either a 2-day or 3-day schedule and then I also get Monday through Thursday off. ...

Appointment By Grant Perks of Herbert Vaughn as Alternate Delegate for Ohio by samsloan
To the By-Laws Committee: Here is the email from Grant Perks to Patricia Knight which was deemed to be sufficient by Pat Knight to appoint Herbert Vaughn, Bill Brock, Paul Truong and Jeff Smith as alternate delegates from the State of Ohio. I believe that this email was insufficient for this purpose and that they were not validly appointed for a variety of reasons, including the fact that the...

Irony of Susan's Complaint by samsloan
Last year, Susan Polgar complained on her Blog that there were too many players in the US Championship and that the prizes were too small. If you search, you can still find her complaints unless she has deleted them. Now, by contrast, she has come out against "chess politicians" who attack "sponsors". Here is a quote from Susan Polgar's current Blog on the 2007 US

Why does Mike Nolan keep showing up in the background by marcus@stkittsnevischess.org
Why does this small little clique of people govern the funds of so many? OMOV, the preomov, it doesn't matter. WHY IS MIKE NOLAN always showing up in the background with any sort of USCF complaint. Why is MIKE NOLAN keeping me off the USCF web site. I can't direct a chess tournament, and nobody will tell me why. Marcus Roberts
