Championship time limit by
Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (Wlod)
I've posted this idea in the past
but it got lost in the crowd (of
silly posts by others :-) -- actually
somewhere inside my own post :-)
In the case of the championship match
the playing tempo should be decided
by the champion and the challenger.
They would not have to discuss and agree
to anything. Thye would just play

Marcus Roberts reversed the credit card charges for his USCF Life

that Marcus Roberts purchased a Life Membership for himself and
regular memberships for nine other people but then subsequently
reversed all the credit card charges for these ten...

ILLEGAL VOTE CAST IN USCF ELECTION by
marcus@stkittsnevischess.org
I received an illegal ballot from the United States Chess Federation. I
spent 39 cents and mailed to and voted for Sam Sloan and Marcus
Roberts. I did this as an official protest as head of a chess
government. I will not tell whose name the ballot was in.
The ballot made no sense. As a former member of the USCF bylaws
committee, I would VOID THE ENTIRE BALLOT AS AMIGIOUS for the election
of...

elected national FIDE delegates by
marcus@stkittsnevischess.org
..
Elected FIDE Delegates,
I propose that FIDE directly elect 20 or 30 delegates from the
wealthiest chess countries that contribute the most to FIDE. These
Delegates shall be elected from a voting membership of FIDE rated
players who are rated at least 2200, candidate master, I think??
The current number of voting delegates in FIDE is 155. You are not
going to get passage of more than 20 or 30...

competitive chess in 21 century by
Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (Wlod)
No more any FIDE, USCF, etc.
For the professional, semi-professional
and competitive chess players there will
be chess centers, equiped with PCs, fast
Internet connections, and certified to
a different degree, depending on what
level of competition they would serve.

Why Fisher Quit by
agnifire@gmail.com
Fisher wasn't obstinate he didn't want to play any more competitive
chess. He didn't want to play because he was afraid that he couldn't
live up to his own standard. Fisher had plenty of offers to play after
he resigned the title and he refused most of them, which shows that he
wasn't interested in playing any more. Fisher wouldn't accept any offer
that was remote fair because he didn't want to...

Is a perfect rating system possible? (Yes! :-) by
Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (Wlod)
Rating like grades at school and awards
for achievements, are never perfect because
they can never grab the most important
issues like talent or understanding.
A math teacher or an art teacher which tries
to grade her/his student taking into account
the students real understanding (of math or
art) makes a HUGE philosophical error.
This kind of things cannot be measured
objectively, they should...

Chess Art Pencil Drawings! by

Hi Everyone (:
I thought you would enjoy the chess art drawings from the studio
of award-winning artist Justin Michael Jenkins. These surreal and
visionary chess depictions reveal the connection between life and chess
and many are from dream interpretations.

Whit/black rating. A solution. by
Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (Wlod)
We know that "white" in chess
is slightly (or not so slightly?)
stonger than "black". Any single rating
which would introduce a rectifying
bias is wrong though, there is always
someone unhappy for a good reason.
The perfect solution is simple
conceptually but not quite logistically.

CL & Evans--the acid test by
Don Aldrich
Okay, we have had our new CL for a week or so now. Here is the question:
Which two pages of CL would you drop for Evan's column ? Or none?
Ground rules: It cannot be ads, Tmt life, or the intro stuff--it must one
of the columns or news/games articles. I suppose you could say that one of
the longer pieces is too long and could be chopped two pages, but that is
something of a...
