"Americans can be found in the playing hall when the games are not taking place even at night" by
Sam Sloan
In the book "Chessdon" By Don Schultz, page 318-319 there is a letter
from Grandmaster Geller dated August 22, 1972 to the icelandic
organizers of the Fischer-Spassky Match. The letter complains:
"It is surprising that the Americans can be found in the playing hall
when the games are not taking place even at night ..."
Now it can be revealed that that was me, Sam Sloan. I flew to Iceland
late...

2nd Annual RGCP Grudge Match by
Tyrone Slothrop
June 26, 2005 was the date of the 1st Annual RGCP Grudge Match. Eleven
months afterwards, this historic matchup is still mentioned in RGCP.
But how can we say it was the first, unless there is a 2nd also? Well,
fear not.
It is almost time for the 2nd Annual RGCP Grudge Match, but I am
honestly uncertain about who should be the contenders this time.
Everyone on here is so full of vile and spit...

KIRSAN DEMANDS USCF DRUG TESTING by
marcus@stkittsnevischess.org
Kirsan demanded USCF players submit to drug testing. I refused to
support this, and now Kirsan is threatening to kill me. I am suing
FIDE.
Kirsan is a thug, who I do no support. Remember Kirsan, you can be
killed as well as me.

The REAL problem with USCF! by
Ray Gordon
USCF's problem is simple: they are NONPROFIT.
If they were a for-profit corporation, there would be incentives to make
sound financial decisions. Right now, there is really no such incentive, as
any "profit" has to somehow be disbursed anyway, and the only real way to
"profit" from USCF is to be an employee or a vendor.
USCF already has a for-profit "rival" in ICC. ICC all but owns...

Keene's questions by
parrthenon@cs.com
KEENE IS BAFFLED
Who are the ratbackers? I get very confused by these brain dead
zombies. Remind me again who they are. -- Raymond Keene
GM Ray Keene asked the questions listed below to a
friend of his in America. I would add these annotations:
1. Neil Brennen originally came here announcing himself
as the historian of the Pennsylvania State Chess Federation.

Sam Sloan by
politikalhack@gmail.com
Sloan broadcasts his sexual experience with and interest in very young
girls, even as he seeks a position on the USCF Board and calls the
professional and personal conduct of sitting Board members into
question.
It would be easy to write Sloan off as a kook (albeit a kook who plays
chess better than I do :-) ), except that other foes of USCF (e.g.
Larry Parr and Phil Innes) are willing to...

2nd Annual RGCP Grudge Match to have a match purse of at least $2250!!! by
Tyrone Slothrop
Thanks to Lance, the 2nd Annual RGCP Grudge Match is one step closer to
reality, with a match purse of at least $2250! This is a richer purse
than many regional chess tournaments!
What we need now are potential match ups, agreements from contenders, a
venue, terms, etc., etc.
Let the discussions continue!

when might we see the new magazine and web site? by
DB Rea
There's been an awful lot of talk here and elsewhere on the money spent for
the re-design of the magazine and the web site. I just might re-join if
they both come to pass. Anyone have any idea when either of these new
efforts will arrive? I looked at the latest Chess Life at the local
library yesterday and didn't see any difference, and I just checked the web
site a couple of minutes ago and...

Deconstructing Bauer by
parrthenon@cs.com
THE MEANING OF WORDS
Recently I posted "How Randy Bauer Shifted
Ground," an essay in which I noted that while there
was little dispute that Mr. Bauer shifted ground in a
series of attacks on the books of GM Ray Keene, there
was an attempt to shift the debate from Mr. Bauer
abandoning his initial position to accusing me of
lying when epitomizing that position. I was accused of
being a "sophist"...
