Da Vinci Code in chess by
Zero
Hi,
I saw the movie, The Da Vinci Code, yesterday. It was an interesting
moving about a guy who does a treasure hunt by solving codes and clues
along the way. He said in the movie that symbols have different
meanings.
I was wondering if there are any secret coded messages on a chessboard.
Maybe a longtime the inventors of chess used the pieces as symbols to
meet something. They all...

SUMMARY OF 2006 EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING by
marcus@stkittsnevischess.org
Well, FIDE did recieve my fax. They are ignoring me. I was told to
contact Leong, who is ignoring me. Nobody can play in the world chess
championship in 2006 for no real legal reason. I am going to hurt FIDE,
and I am going to hurt chess. FIDE will not let us play chess, and not
respond to questions about our application for admission. WE WILL SUE
FIDE!!
FIDE is not there to help small nations....

Rant about GM Keene by
cerebus
I am fairly new to this forum but I have been catching up on the
various controversies which abound. I was very surprised by Taylor
Kingston accusing GM Keene of dishonest statements. As a matter of
record here - and I have read through everything I can find here in
the past threads - it seems to me that GM Keene has been very clear
at every stage and backed up his assertions with solid...

I post this from Kirsan's web site, and I ask the reader, do you
believe that this is true?
In word and deed
A list of FIDE achievements of the decade 1996-2006
"The past decade was undoubtedly the decade of chess unity within
FIDE. Immediately after his first election in 1996, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov
promised to stop all the fights within FIDE and he succeeded. A new
spirit of democracy has been...

I refuse to take FIDE drug tests by

I refuse to take drug tests
I guess I will be the first conscious objector. When St Kitts and Nevis
enters the world chess championship, I promise never to submit to,
undertake, or agree to take any drug test for FIDE. I promise to
R.C.P.G. never to pull out my dick in a crisis.
I guess this will cause a problem. Oh well.

Sam Sloan - Jail? by
g4
Poor Liarry Parr. Here he comes to this forum trying to paint Sloan as the
victim by our excessive government and smear campaigns by his politcal enemies.
And then comes along the likes of The Historian, among others, who
present actual, irrefutable evidence demonstrating that Liarry wasn't telling
the whole truth. The guy just can't catch a break.

notification of FIDE by
marcus@stkittsnevischess.org
I have notified Dr. Tim Redman (USA) and FIDE of my decision. I know
that this is a little tacky, but legally it is the strongest argument.
Dear Dr. Redman:
My position as a FIDE Delegate as that I am immune from drug tests as a
FIDE Delegate. Since I can't play in the world chess championship
until I am a FIDE Delegate, this problem may or may not emerge this
year. My admission could be...

Did Kirsan bribe Beatriz Marinello? by
cerebus
I am very interested in the outcome of the FIDE Presidential election.
It seems to me that Bessel Kok is probably the more suitable candidate
but that Kirsan is likely to win. I have been following the controversy
about Beatriz Marinello, have also looked at David Levy's letter on
Chessbase about democracy in chess as well as have seen what Boris
Kutin did as president of the European chess...

How Bessel Kok could have won the FIDE Presidential Election by

How Bessel Kok could have won the FIDE Presidential Election
The better path was for Bessel Kok to LIE. Had Kok offered to help the
third world in chess, that is - LIE - he would have won. One of the
problems here in chess is the egotistical nature of the political
leadership. Kok was too honest.
Kok is Vice Chairman of a state run telecommunications monopoly in
Eastern Europe. In other words,...

Joel Channing reports on the Zoning Issue by
Sam Sloan
Posted: Sat May 27, 2006 2:02 am Zoning of New HQ Bldg
I began researching the Crossville land deal at the annual meeting in
Phoenix last August. I became concerned when I read a note in the
financial report that said that, in the event of a sale of the
building, the City has the right to buy back the land for one dollar.
When I raised this as a question at one of the sessions I was...

Conflict between Afghan Delegations to the World Chess Federation.
There is a Congress of the World Chess Federation going on right now
in Turin, Italy in the same sporting facility that housed the Winter
Olympic Games a few months ago.
There are two slates running for the presidency. One slate is known as
The Good Guys. The other slate is known as The Bad Guys.
Both the Good Guys and the Bad...

Newsgroup Censorship by Rob Mitchell
Rob Mitchell, a regular poster to the chess newsgroups, especially
rec.games.chess.politics , has come up with an interesting way to
thwart discussion of any topics he finds objectionable: He changes the
subject headers, so that anybody who has been following the discussion
will not be able to see what happened to it.
At first I thought it was happenstance...

Lost Tal Game Discovered by
Equinorm@AOL.com
I am in the process of moving, and in readying for the move I have been
going through some old boxes that have been stored away. In one of the
boxes (filled mostly with old Chess Life magazines) I found a
scoresheet with the following game (which I thought I had lost
forever):
Mikhail Tal - Geofrey Strayer
Software Toolworks, 26.11.1987
