Including the very cryptic comment:
2.2 What do you think of the Topalov - Kramnik match? Do you believe that it
will take place eventually?
When you are dealing with promises made by Kirsan Iliyumzinov* you should
always be aware that after the elections they might not be materialized!

Why FIDE discriminates against black people, is Kirsan Illyumzhinov a racist? by
marcus@stkittsnevischess.org
Why FIDE discriminates against black people, is Kirsan Illyumzhinov a
racist?
It appears that Kirsan believes that blacks can't play chess as well
as white people. This is why black people from St Kitts and Nevis
can't play in the world chess champshiop. Blacks are perceived as too
stupid to play chess.
We can't play in the world chess championship because the FIDE
President is more interested...

Why Wayne Praeder is wrong about Term Limits by
Sam Sloan
What Wayne Praeder proposes is exactly the opposite of what we need.
What we need is a way to induce the good board members who served in
the past to come back and run again.
We had some excellent board members back in the late 1980s and early
1990s, men like Fred Gruenberg, John Donaldson and Jerry Hanken.
When they were on the board, the USCF was profitable. It was during
their terms of...

Why do chess players act so strange? by
Zero
How come people who play chess act so weird and strange?
I went to a tournament one time in a big hotel; people acted really
strange.. I saw players who would slam the pieces down. I don't
understand how slamming a piece down makes their move stronger than
placing it gently.
I saw one player screw the piece into the board as he placed them on
their new squares.

Does Opening help the Chess Game play better? by
Sanny
I would like to know if Opening is learnt by a Computer Game will it
make better moves. If it is so Can anyone tell me how can I get a list
of All the Major Openings.
Currently the game plays without Openings:
http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html
I want that the game plays First four Moves without thinking a second
and plays the best Opening moves.

Why should I play chess??? by
Zero
I went to a chess club again this week. I just don't understand why
some players spend time playing in tournaments, reading books, playing
online, and studying positions/games, etc.
What will I gain by playing chess? Will it make me more intelligent or
improve my memory?? I once read that people who practice mental
activities will help prevent alzheimer's disease. I think this is the
disease...

A complement to orthodox chess, by Mats Winther by
Mats Winther
It's time to discuss the chess rules and seriously reconsider the opening
rules.
Orthodox chess (Fide-chess) is today more and more revolving around
computer-aided opening preparation. The game is increasingly taking
place before the actual meeting at the chessboard, by the meticulous
preparation against an opponent and his particular repertoire. The
science of openings is becoming a heavy...

Scandal at USCF NOT by
chessdon
My review of the DVD recording of the EB meeting regarding the Beatriz
matter.
I previously said Beatriz threatened the USCF by knowingly know her
appeal to the FIDE GA would hurt the USCF and in effect using that as
leverage to gain the endorsement of the Board. Upon review, while one
might get that impression from some of the dialogue, there seems to be
mitigating words by Beatriz that leads...

Breaking Headline News - This just came in by
Sam Sloan
After careful consideration of the direction of the wind, Beatriz
Marinello has decided to come out of the closet! She announced this
news to teach the right wing chess fanatics of Schultz, Channing,
Goichberg and Tanner a lesson. What lesson would that be? Who the ****
knows? I don't think she knows either. She just wants the world not to
forget her name. A one hit wonder syndrome?

Latest Distortions in Alekhine's Parrot by
The Historian
Only three caught my eye this week. In Mr. Innes' defense I will state
that he hasn't misinterpreted David Kane's words in his latest column.
"last week Chessville set up a straw-poll arrangement concerning Larry
Evan's firing from Chess Life - every time this writer mentioned a
result of a poll a contra-result was recorded. The poll was
'stuffed'."
Mr. Innes provides no evidence there has...

Waiting for Hoffman by
parrthenon@cs.com
"YOU DANCE WITH THE PEOPLE WHO BRUNG YA"
I am convinced the only reason this poll is even close is because
Neil Brennen and his cohorts are voting early and often. This straw
vote is certainly not legitimate. The real reason the USCF won't
conduct a scientific poll is not lack of money, as Mike Nolan
suggested. It's because the leadership prefers to donate $50,000 to
one of its buddies without...
