Political Rating Floors by
Sam Sloan
I just happened to look up Tom Dorsch and noticed that he has a rating
floor of 2200, although his rating has never been higher than 2260.
http://www.uschess.org/msa/MbrDtlMain.php?10496730
About half of the time, he has been bouncing off of the floor. Without
the floor, his rating might have dropperd as low as 2100.
An inordinate number of Chess Politicians have floors much higher than
her...

I, Brennan, admit that I'm an asshole and I'm gay by

I'm an asshole and I'm gay. I found out that I am when I dream about
Sloan and Parr every night. I also like to post nasty stuff on
Wikepedia. I want you all to know that I'm in love with Sam Sloan. I
want to come out of the closet now. Please support me.

My Trusty Damiano's Defense Fails by
Sam Sloan
I really cannot understand what went wrong. I played such a good
opening. Soon I was a rook up. Yet I lost.
Can somebody please tell me where I made my mistake?

So the USCF now has some money by
RSHaas@aol.com
Evidently the USCF now has some money for the first time in years.
Maybe now we can take another look at the Mensa model for chess
whereby there would be a systematic sharing of the national dues (about
$10 per adult member; $5 per full youth) with metropolitan scaled
umbrella organizations (the Metro District orgs) that would operate
some reasonable chess events and activities. The idea is to...

Interesting points from USCF fiancial report by
irvin
1. The cost of erecting the building in Crossville will be a MINIMUM of
$561.000. The money was loaned from a local bank and the architect is
getting al least $43.000.
2. Even though the land is "appraised" at $269.000, should the USCF ever
decide to move out of Crossville and sell the building, the land has to be
offered first to the city of Crossville for $1.

USCF: Stunning lack of direction by
nicoannie
It scares me to see USCF de-evoloving, back to some invertebrate
species. It seems as though rudderless oversight has given way to
active denial of problems.
Was it my imagination, or did the latest CL come out with the
"letters" section obviously removed? Why in the name of all that is
aboveboard, would management allow CL, at this point in time, to remove
the one vehicle members have to...

2004-04 US CHESS FEDERATION'S FINANCIAL STATEMENTS by
beatchess@aol.com
Dear All,
The Auditor's report has been posted in the USCF website. I am pleased
to report that our hard work has been paying off by producing a very
substantial profit for a second consecutive year.
In Phoenix next week, we will be addressing details on this tremendous
success. This report will be distributed at the Delegates' meeting and
also post it in the USCF's website for our members...

OT: State of the Union by
Matt Nemmers
Nothing says funny quite like splicing together a bunch of G.W. sound-bites
and making your own State of the Union Address. I'm sure Mike Goodall will
swear this is how it *should've* went.

Now that I have a TV for the first time in years and I turned it on
and what did I see but a chess game being played!!!
They were interviewing Medina Parrilla who just got back from a good
finish in the World Under-14 Championship for Girls in France.
Actually, the announcer did not play the best. Here is the game: White

A model for a chess movie - for Rob and others interested by
jamesrynd@aol.com
I have taken the liberty, blah, blah..
Seriously, I have something positive to add here!
Rob, and anyone else interested in a great movie to use as an
inspiration for a chess movie, buy "This Old Cub."
Wasn't it Roone Arldedge (sp.- sorry?) who found that the human
interest side of sport was what people really cared about? I am of
course talking about how the US covers the Olympics - which is...

Sam Sloan and USCF in the Village Voice by
Sam Sloan
By the way, I got the race for USCF Executive Board mentioned on page
16 of the Village Voice for July 27-August 2, 2005, under the heading
"Fringe Candidates".
That is more publicity for the USCF than anybody else got.
