Go Lesson # 1 by Sam Sloan by

I had a lot of problems making my go shows. Two top Go personalities
got in an argument about it, one apparently claiming that I should not
be allowed to make it.
Why cannot amateurs make such films ? Only profis are allowed to make it ?

So please watch the show and report back here what you think.
Or, you could save yourself the trouble of watching, and do what Sam

Why rebuild New Orleans? by
RSHaas@aol.com
Why rebuild New Orleans? All of southern Louisiana is sinking into
the gulf at a rate of 21 square miles per year. Global warming will
speed up the process. We're into a decade of high hurricane activity
so New Orleans is likely to get hit again and again. It won't be long
before major businesses seek higher ground in Baton Rouge, Memphis or
elsewhere. Mother Nature will take New Orleans in...

Beatriz saved the USCF by
parrthenon@cs.com
BEATRIZ'S ODE TO BEATRIZ
In Beatriz Marinello's Ode to Beatriz on how she saved the USCF in
the September 2005 Chess Life (pages 6-7) she conspicuously omits Stan
Booz (on whom she has lavished praise in this forum) when giving "a
special thank you to my close advisors, former USCF Presidents Dr.
Leroy Dubeck, Steve Doyle and Dr. Timothy Redman."

especially happy to learn that I have posted a biography of her at

Elizabeth Shaughnessy will be happy as well:

How much aid has arrived from France? by
RSHaas@aol.com
How much aid to New Orleans has arrived from France? Meanwhile, I hear
rumors that Columbia is sending a boatload of cocaine to the ghetto to
replace lost staches. Mexico, of course is sending replacement
Mexicans.

Disaster effect by
RSHaas@aol.com
One of the really bad effects of the disaster in New Orleans is that
there are probably a lot of ICC disconnects by New Orleans players that
will never be resumed.

Guess Who's Coming To Dinner by
parrthenon@cs.com
STATUS AND MONEY TRUMP RACE
I wrote that in a vast majority of instances, the issue of
interracial marriage for parents is class and moolah.
Here is a review by Roger Ebert of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
His point is not the same as the point in the movie. He notes that
Hollywood pulls out of the bag all of its tricks to make the marriage
acceptable to the audience, i.e. Poitier is rich,...

College:
"Although not an elected position, Pennswoodpusher editor Neil
Brennen has indicated that he would like to step down from that post
in the next year or so. President Martinak encouraged anyone
interested in the position to contact the PSCF."

Mensa Model Question by
RSHaas@aol.com
Suppose you live in Detroit, Houston, Miami, or some other metro area
of that size. Under a Mensa model adapted for chess, those metros
would be in line for about $4000 to $5000 of annual funding for chess
production.
What would be bad about that? Why does almost everyone oppose that
kind of scheme? Why would it be worse than our traditional system?
Under the Mensa scheme, a given Metro...

Bond's first mission by

Bond's first mission
In middle of eighties I visited London in purpose to see Museums, Zoo
garden, and some other places. On some tube station I saw strong chess
player who played against travelers. He won blitz games several tourists. I
was interested to play. First game I won. Second game was draw and that
master told me to come another day to chess club, but I have never went on
it. About...
