Guess Who's Coming To Dinner by
parrthenon@cs.com
STATUS AND MONEY TRUMP RACE
I wrote that in a vast majority of instances, the issue of
interracial marriage for parents is class and moolah.
Here is a review by Roger Ebert of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
His point is not the same as the point in the movie. He notes that
Hollywood pulls out of the bag all of its tricks to make the marriage
acceptable to the audience, i.e. Poitier is rich,...

PSCF Looks for New Editor for Pennswoodpusher by
The Historian
From the minutes of the PSCF Annual Meeting, July 16, 2005, in State
College:
"Although not an elected position, Pennswoodpusher editor Neil
Brennen has indicated that he would like to step down from that post
in the next year or so. President Martinak encouraged anyone
interested in the position to contact the PSCF."

Mensa Model Question by
RSHaas@aol.com
Suppose you live in Detroit, Houston, Miami, or some other metro area
of that size. Under a Mensa model adapted for chess, those metros
would be in line for about $4000 to $5000 of annual funding for chess
production.
What would be bad about that? Why does almost everyone oppose that
kind of scheme? Why would it be worse than our traditional system?
Under the Mensa scheme, a given Metro...

My new Chess Biograpries in Wikipedia by
Sam Sloan
Bill Brock keeps writing on top of my chess biographies, to keep
others from reading this.
Here they are again. I ask Bill Brock, my long time antagonist, to
start his own headers, and not to write on top on mine.
I have just finished posting in the Wikipedia Encyclopedia biographies
of several notable chess personalities. Beatriz Marinello will be
especially happy to learn that I have posted a...

Hurricane by

Hurricane Katrina is headed towards New Orleans with category 4-5
winds. That's enough to knock over Jude Acers' chess table.

Bond's first mission by
Goran Tomic
Bond's first mission
In middle of eighties I visited London in purpose to see Museums, Zoo
garden, and some other places. On some tube station I saw strong chess
player who played against travelers. He won blitz games several tourists. I
was interested to play. First game I won. Second game was draw and that
master told me to come another day to chess club, but I have never went on
it. About...

Hey, Jude ... by
RSHaas@aol.com
Anyone heard from or about chess master Jude Acers down in New
Orleans? Also, I'd guess Paul Morphy's old house has been trashed.
Meanwhile, if Chess HQ ever moves out of Crossville, I presume New
Orleans and Mobile will not be in the running. I wonder also if
European AirBus will go forward with its plan to build a $600 million
production plant in Mobile. Montgomery looks like a safer...

Handwriten Ballots?? by
Sam Sloan
I have heard that there were some hand-written ballots cast and
counted in the USCF election.
Is this true?
My source does not know how many such ballots there were, but he
believes that there were a few hundred and almost all of them were
cast for the "Success Team".
It these are not counted then I would move up from 8th place to

GetLocation by
Sam Sloan
I am intrigued by the potential of
http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation
for locating false posters.
For example, yesterday I was able to use this service to establish
that Neil Brennen had posted a fake anonymous biography of me.
I moved my Internet service from Jamaica Queens to the Morris Heights
Section of the Bronx on July 25-26, 2005.

Cluck by
Angelo DePalma
Nothing much to post on these days. Everyone seems to be on vacation.
Including Sam Sloan, who is too flippin scared to play me in a thematic odds
match with his beloved Damiano "defense" on the line.
I invite comments as to why Herr Doktor Sloan has refused my invitation.
I've offered to play at any reasonable point between western NJ and
Brooklyn.
I think he's just scared. Cluck.

Label sources say Apple stubbornly disregards their suggestions for drawing
in new digital music customers. They say they would like more flexibility on
track pricing and promotions. But more than anything, labels want to see th
e iPod become interoperable with music services other than iTunes.
At Pomona Valley, Carl's promised onslaught had already begun. The hospital
switchboard was lighting up...
