Pa. "chess historian" lets USCF membership lapse again by NoMoreChess
.. For the second time in about two years, Pennsylvania "chess historian" Neil Brennen has let his USCF membership lapse. The self-righteous, self-proclaimed "chess historian," who is an over-the-board rated Class C player with a Class D quick rating, seems not to care about renewing his USCF membership, which expired on 31 October 2004. He has not played rated chess since May of this...

Stupid Americans! -- Stupid... Stupid... STUPID!!! __________==___ emascibu by sennajawa@yahoo.com
Nonyz: Some would call you naive, maybe even foolish for making such sweeping generalizations about so many Americans. Indeed, we have Jeromy Bibuld, but that does not mean that every American is likewise

Should new Scholastic Players get chess ratings? by Russ
In this long thread, many very good ideas have been suggested to improve the validity of ratings, especially in connection with the large (and growing) scholastic population. I hope to comment on some of these in later posts, but for now, I wish to make one very important (in our view) point. The RATING is JUST A SINGLE STATISTIC. It cannot be "all things to all men". THE SPORT OF CHESS...

USCF EB to hold closed sessions in Florida by GrantPerks
All this is completely illegal. You need to learn what the inside of a jail looks like. Sam Sloan Sam, I seriously doubt there will be jail time, I do wonder if the D&O insurance will provide coverage. As I recall, there is a $10,000 deductible.

What is the Difference between a TD and a TN? by HAASpittle
"Have ANY of you idiots ever been to CROSSVILLE?? Have any of you ever seen DELIVERANCE??" (fermeted) ============ Didn't it win an academy award? If not at least the banjo picking was good. Funny thing about that, too. Not many people like bluegrass music but almost everyone can recognize Dueling Banjos. Old Haasie

What is the Immigration Status of Beatriz Marinello? by Chess One
He advised against a CAT Scan at this time. However, if it happens again, a CAT Scan might be called for. Sam Sloan Just don't croak until you read the GO book - I have it wrapped after my own fashion- it really is a beautiful little hardback novel - will try to forward Friday if I can bother with the post office lines. Open Letter to USCF Board by Parrthenon
Gentlemen and Gentleladies, You have voted to move the headquarters of the U. S. Chess Federation to Crossville, a small town in Tennessee. If you have the funds, you will be putting up a headquarters building next to a gas company. If not, you may have a prolonged stay in an old church or, mayhaps, in a warehouse. You will be hoping to procure adequately trained labor in the vicinity. If...

Merge Men and Womens Chess by Rob Mitchell
Seems to me that one way to energize things might be to just merge mens and womens chess. It would cut down on the number of prizes given and increase the amount of the purse money. I think the Polgars would agree that women can compete equally. Best, Rob

I just saw the announcement on Channel 5. The lead story on the 10 o'clock news tonight will be that the Morrow High School in Brooklyn won the natinal high school championship where 1200 kids competed and they were greeted by the President. If you live in New York City, be sure to turn on the Channel 5 News tonight at 10 PM. It could be an important story for us teachers of chess. Sam Sloan
