Hurricane Hassie by KidDon
I think Old Hassie's hot air is fueling Hurricane Charlie and drawing it straight towards the Sarasota/Tampa area. Fully expecting he will not stop, the forecasters are predicting Charlie to be a Category 3 by the time it hits West Florida. But, if we get enough of those Mensa Metro Model $10 bills, we can rebuild. Riding the storm out in Tampa, Kiddon

Ray Gordon Saratoga Selections Friday (08/13/04) by HC
Know your newsloon. This from yesterday in another newsgroup. You be the Judge. Do I lie? Is this not the most reprehensible psycho you have ever read on Usenet? Do you *really* care who he thinks will win a horse race? Poor Ray Ray got upset because while he was professing to be an EXPERT on how to bed women, somebody pointed out that he's a loser that still lives with his MOMMY at 37. ...

Pablo Zarnicki on internet chess and cheating by Jerzy
Here you can read a very interesting article on internet chess by GM Pablo Zarnicki : http://www.chess-players.org/eng/news/viewarticle.html?id=120 THE MOMENT OF TRUTH There is a saying: "silence implies consent". In fact, I do not always share this philosophy and I believe that when dealing with someone who does not

Who made the US Women's Olympiad team? by Alberich
I've been away on vacation. No access to the web therefore I have no knowledge as to who made the US Women's team for the upcoming Olympiad. So I'd like to know who made the team. Obviously, Susan Polgar and Irina Krush are on there...but as to the others I'm not clear on. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

America has "chess envy" of Fischer by Nick
"Zugzwanged" wrote to Greg Kennedy ("NoMoreChess"): More lies from this piece of **** moron Kennedy (no more lies). Greg Kennedy ('NoMoreChess') does have a record of writing countless lies. I made it quite clear in my post that I am aware that Nick is a liar also, Again, no one has ever been able to cite any evidence that I have ever written any 'lie' about...

America has "chess envy" of Fischer by Ray Gordon
They always have, and they always will. Fischer actually WORKED at the game. He played sound openings, and sound chess. He studied all the time. He wasn't lazy. He was everything that our "talent" since is not, and they HATE him for it. He succeeded where all other American players fail, and they never forgave him for that. What a disgrace.

I Joined!! by HAASpittle
Boy, it is great to be back in the mainstream of chess. I joined up after a long time away from the best chess organization in the country... the ICC. Joining the USCF, however, may take a while longer. You gotta have a good reason to join the USCF... and dinky club tounaments 50 miles away in St. Pete ain't a good enough reason... not for Old Haasie anyhoo. Old Haasie

In defence of Fischer by Hans Jørgen Lassen
Let us not forget the reasonable things that Fischer did. Here are some quotations from "The Oxford Companion to Chess": "Some believed that Fischer was always 'difficult' and were surprised in 1970 when he agreed to play for the Rest of the World in a match against the USSR. They were even more surprised when he played at second board, ceding first place to Larsen whose recent record was better...

Dubai Chess City & FIDE Moving There !! by Guy Macon
StanB says... This has to be a joke. If it is, it's a rather well executed one. I just did a Google search and found the story in several reputable newspapers.

USCF's Problem: They Sell "Rated Chess" by Ray Gordon
Remember the marketing? Rated chess was the ****, or so they said. Problem is that now the chess servers have ratings that are every bit as valid and treasured as the "national rating" that used to be the only game in town. -- http://www.cybersheet.com/library.html
