2000 is good. Yep. And he didn't make it up. Correct again. However it was indeed years ago,

Sam Sloan's Best Games of Chess by Sam Sloan
Here are four of my best games of chess. The first is probably the best game I ever played, with a fantastic queen sacrifice followed by smothered mate at the end. My opponent was a woman chess player who often changes her married name. Her name at the time of this game was Gina Wolski. She is also known as Gina Sanchez. The second is a game I beat Grandmaster Walter Browne. It was published in...

Why are super GMs scared of the Zaitsev Variation? by Ivan
I have noticed that when Anand and Kramnik try to play the Zaitsev variation with Bb7 against Leko, he does not want to play the mainline with d4. Instead he wimps out with playing d3. What is the deal? Is the Zaitsev really that powerful of an opening for black? I thought Kasparov had already demonstrated methods to tame this opening during the Kasparov-Karpov contests of the 80s. thanks,

Where to find Annual Report and/or Form 10-K for the U.S. Chess Federation? by Isidor Gunsberg
I'd like to locate some organizational information pertaining to the U.S. Chess Federation (USCF). In particular, I would like to examine the latest available Annual Report generated by the USCF, and also take a look at the USCF's form 10-K, or its closest equivalent. Does anybody know if this material is located online, and if it might be archived on the USCF's website? If so, I'd be grateful...

So What Happened to the Money from USChess Sales? by Fifiela
Now that we have covered distractions, what is the situation with the B+E? It's not a distraction; It's called stealing; It's a fundemental personal failing. Who are your trustee's? Do they know what they are going to get dragged into?

Tit for Tat (OT) by Parrthenon
I don't read much on rgcp and I can't say whether or not Nick Bourbaki is a liar, as Greg Kennedy claims (see below). Nick appears to be disagreeing with me as has someone named Jurgen who says I bore him. Yet he entered the debate and apparently wants me to bore him some more. I don't think he sounds bored, but if he is then so be it. There's an expatriate chap who hangs out at the Sucasa bar...

How was Fischer living in Japan? by Robert Maloney
I'm just kind of curious exactly what money Fischer was living off of in Japan. Also, can you just live in Japan without working if you have enough money? I suppose he had to keep renewing his passport and card for this?

IMG acquired by Forstmann Little & Co. by HAASpittle
Today's Sarasota Herald - Tribune reported Forstmann Little & Co. has acquired IMG of Cleveland for an estimated $700 million. IMG is, among other things, a sports talent agency and also has significant operations in nearby Bradenton, Florida including the Nick Bolletieri Tennis Academy which developed many of the world's top players. IMG also operates from Bradenton the International...

Perhaps the Real Reason by Fifiela
Perhaps the real reason Peterson looted the Cal Chess bank account. He had voted for a motion to move CalChess banking back to the Bay Area and would no longer have unquestioned access to the money in his home town 100's of miles away. Note the timing; The accounts are to be moved after the annual meeting in Sept 2004. Peterson looted the treasury just before the Sept 2004 meeting. New...

Tit for tat by Matt Nemmers
Seeing a man browsing around Victoria Secret apparently not finding what he's looking for, a store clerk comes up and asks him if she can help him with anything. The man explains that he's looking to buy a sexy bra for his wife that "accentuates her features." The clerk nods understandingly and proceeds to explain what they have. "There are three main types of the bra you're looking for," she...

Richard Peterson And The Burden Of Proof by Ray Gordon
Let's see, once AGAIN an evil chess world decides to make Richard Peterson its scapegoat for failings it refuses to confront within itself. Now they have tiptoed around the defamation laws by accusing him of things that would normally result in some legal process, and I don't mean in years or months, or even weeks, but DAYS (for $500 you can get a lawyer to go after the money, and most will do...

Where do I mail my USCF tournament results? by Ivan
HI, I was wondering where you send your USCF tournament report. On the USCF website, it says that the address of the USCF office is: Mailing Address: USCF, 3068 US Rt. 9W, Suite #100, New Windsor, NY 12553 But on all the tournament forms it says that the address is:

Mensa tournament in Illinois by Martin Wilber
I wasn't planning on mentioning this here, but Matt Nemmers inspired me to do so. :-) This Saturday we had our first Mensa Chess Tournament in Arlington Heights, IL. You didn't have to be a Mensa member to play. The tournament was a great success with a good mix of adults and children playing. I believe there were around 30 players total. It was a well run tourney, and the Mensa folks were...
