Polgar Defends Herself! Bravo!!! by
LeModernCaveman
This should send a message to every person online who thinks they can go around
trashing others without consequence.
One of the people mentioned in the Polgar mess got into something similar with
me not long ago and seemed to think it was just a joke.
Anyone who wants to talk smack about someone else better have good authority to
back it up.
Way to go Susan!

The dues increase made a little bit of money for the USCF. by
GreenPencil
There were about 24000 adult members at the beginning of last year
(remember to subtract the 1000 prisoners), and by december of last
year about 22000 (with the prisoners taken out by this time). We
still await the January numbers to properly compare the data, but
after 11 months we have lost members, but dues revenue has made little
money for the USCF.
24000 * $40 = $960,000
22000 * $49 =...

Why copyrighting chess games doesn't work by
Alberich
First of all, for a game to be copyrighted, the person trying to prove
the game has to be copyrighted has to show a court of law that the game
in question has been KNOWNINGLY duplicated in competition down to EVERY
move in the game. And this is not possible because trying to prove
someone "duplicated" the game knowingly is impossible. For example, I
dare anyone to try proving the Kasparov-Topalov...

Careless copyediting in February Chess Life by
Miriling
The February 2004 issue of Chess Life shows some careless copyediting.
Examples:
David Levy, president of the International Computer Games Association, is
misidentified as Michael Levy in the photo on page 12.
The Svidler-Volkov game on page 26, given as a Petroff's Defense, is a French
Defense (Advance Variation).
The Melekhina-Khazomia game on page 29, given as an English Opening, is a
French...

OT: LSU 21, OU 14 by
sandirhodes
Before I get into anything, I need to congratulate LSU on a deserving victory, and the National Championship. I also want to
congratulate USC on a great season, and say that I think they too deserve a share of that title, since no mechanism exists to truly
determine the better team. Throughout all the controversy, no one ever doubted that LSU deserved to be in the title game, and most
felt USC...

USCF Memberships by
eapeau
Below is a copy of a couple of postings by Mike Nolan on the RGCP. I
was surprised that his figures didn't get more discussion and
consideration. At a time when it is important for the USCF to retain
as many members as possible, we should use this information to its
greatest advantage.
Restructuring membership levels by rating, and eliminating the age
criteria, would be a simple, clear-cut way...

MILITARY INFILTRATION OF THE US Chess Federation EXPOSED FOR HARRASSING LAWFUL CIVILIANS MEMBERS by

MATT JACKASS NEMMERS IS A MILITARY REDNECK WHO HARRASSES LAWFUL CIVILIANS
MATT JACKASS NEMMERS IS A MILITARY REDNECK WHO HARRASSES LAWFUL CIVILIANS,
and who acts consistently in such a manner and as such represents a threat
to the independent nature of the U.S.C.F. as it forms a pattern that
supports the view that the U.S. military is using their members'
relationships with the U.S.C.F. to spy...

Big 12 Tanking by
ASCACHESS
OK, there are up years and down years for conferences. Certainly, it has been
portrayed here and else where that the Big 12 is in an up year, but the bowl
results don't seem to show that.
As K-State is down 14-0 to punchless Ohio State in the second quarter, I
wondered how the other Big 12 schools have done. I was surprised to learn the
answer is not well at all. The results pretty much speak...

Houston Nutt Tells NE to Keep your Million by
ASCACHESS
Arkansas Coach Houston Nutt refused Nebraska's 2.5 million dollar offer to
coach the Cornhuskers and kept his 1.5 million dollar job at Arkansas.
Apparently, Nebraska can't give this job away because nobody wants to work for
the Nebraska AD.
In other news, gadfly Sam Sloan has offered to take the 2.5 million as soon as
he collects the 20 million dollars he is anticipating from a certain...

Interview with Susan Polgar by
Peter van der Hoog
Very interesting interview, Tomic. Where was it published?
One of your questions "Why didn't Fischer stay in Budapest?" is perhaps
answered by Eugeny Bebchuck.
And two years back, having learned that Hungary enters NATO, Fischer told
Liliental: " I need to run, they will get me... "And soon he disappeared and
made phone calls to his friends from... Japan: "Only here I can be rescued
from their...
