worst world champion--Spassky by
The Masked Bishop
Without a doubt. Lacked the intrinsic smarts of both Smyslov and Euwe, both
of whom seem to be perennial candidates for this position. Boris is
overlooked because Fischer beat him, and gee, we wouldn't want our one
American title to be sullied by the fact that Spassky was an easy take. Euwe
generally gets the most votes because he wasn't an asshole and let Alekhine
win the title back too soon....

Who testified for Sherzer's behalf??? by
Ivan
In this article it says that several players from the chess community
including JUDIT POLGAR!!!! testified for Alex Sherzer. Who else was
there? I guess Larry Parr probably was not there.

Why do so many ignorant cretins hate the messiah? by
Bruce Draney
A messiah is always rejected by his own people. Why do people not
appreciate their new messiah? Why do they condemn and attack his
ideas and him, without even considering them, or him?
Thus it is written in the Tome of Agony, that the messiah must suffer
the indignation of having his logical premeses questioned. He shall
be rejected and forced to compose 1,500 word posts defending...

LeModernCaveman Put Up or SHUT Up by
Ron Suarez
Having read the various diatribes of this Gordon Roy Parker, I think
we have seen enough Bull. Now is the time for Gordo, Ray, Roy,
Jerk,...whatever your name is to show some real evidence for your
statements.
1. Please tell us your USCF membership name so that we can verify
even that you have a rating as high as 1900. The only Ray Parker that
is listed from Pennsylvania is not even 1500.

ANY GOOD TOURNAMENTS COMING UP IN U.K. by
chessplayer
Can anyone please tell me if there are any good tournaments coming up
in U.K.
I would prefer open tournaments. Also, if there are any upcoming
tournaments with team events. Since me and my team members will be
touring U.K. in November can you tell me if there are any such
tournaments in November or December. Also, if there are any good
websites which will carry such information about tournaments...

A question about the US Women's Olympiad team by
Alberich
I don't understand why Anna Hann isn't part of the US Women's Olympiad
team for 2004. Can anybody explain to me why she's not one of the team
members? Correct me if I'm wrong here...but didn't she beat Jennifer
Shahade AND Irina Krush during the tie break round to win the Women's
title? So, both Jennifer Shahade and Irina Krush are on the Olympiad
team but Anna Hahn isn't?

Who Would Buy a USCF Life Membership Right Now for $1,000? by
Bruce Draney
What is most interesting about the ongoing discussion about whether to
keep on selling Life Memberships for the present price of $1,000, what
really amazes me, is that ANYONE is more than willing to pay for a Life
Membership in an organization that is near critical condition?
Would ANY of the posters to this forum willingly and knowingly purchase
a Life Membership for $1,000, given the uncertain...

TD or not TD? That is the question. by
Miriling
The policy of the U.S. Chess Federation is that all certified tournament
directors must be current members of the USCF. If a TD allows his or her
membership to lapse, his or her TD certification is canceled and is not
automatically restored upon payment of membership dues. Also, assistant TDs
must be certified TDs.
Question: How was it possible (and legal) for a certain individual to be...

USCF Bonds by
Bill Wong
I had a little time to think today, so of course my mind wandered to the
USCF's finances....I began to muse about Life memberships and realized
that they are essentially bonds issued in perpetuity, with some caveats.
They cost $1000 and we pay a 4.9% coupon to the holder. The
differences are that we have some control over the rate we pay, and the
bond matures when the member dies, but we keep...
