Useful top chess players by
tomic
I found interesting item on the internet:
During World War II, some of the top Chess players were also code breakers.
British masters Harry Golombek, Stuart Milner-Barry and H. O'D. Alexander
were on the team which broke the Nazi Enigma code.
Does anybody have more information about it? Any comments?

Chessmaster 2000 for DOS - Playing Strength? by
Proboscis
Hi EZoto,
Be assured, there is nothing 'wrong' with CM 3000!
De initial versions of CM were definititely fun to play with and would still
be suitable for the occasional player.
It's just that with CM 4000 there was a sentational improvement in playing
strength. Bedore that, CM had never really been taken seriously as compared
to the Big Guys like Rebel, Chess Genius and Fritz.

Secret Soviet Training Methods by
Ivan
I went to a scholastic tournament last weekend and noticed a man
passing out flyers for chess lessons. I took a flyer and saw that he
was advertising chess lessons and that he was knowledgable with the
secret Soviet Training methods and uses them with his teaching.
After reading this statement, I feel really sorry for all the parents
and kids that believed it because I don't think that such an...

Chess master, 7, quits school by
Aaron Kuperman
Seems rational. Even if he lived in New York or London, he'll want to
start playing out of town tournaments fairly soon. Even if the school
allows it, he'll miss too much school. He is much better off being home
schooled. That's might be true of many kids, and is definitely true of
any child who "stands out" (for good or bad), or has a career that isn't
compatible with a school schedule. Home...

GM Revolt Over Publishing Games ! by

There's no frickin' way this thread belongs on
rec.games.chess.analysis
or rec.games.chess.computer.
Anyway, the moves of a GM game are simply a recording of events that
took place. If the room is open to the public, reporters
should be able
to record the events and publish them. If they don't like it, they
should go play in a cave away from the public eye.
